It was a significant evolution compared to the Escort Mk 1 that debuted at Brussels Motor Show in January 1968. It used the reliable mechanical components as the Mk 1 but adopted a new design based on a squared-style look able to be in line with the aesthetic and stylistic taste of the 70s. In addition to the more classic version, it was also released the Escort Sport version characterized by a more aggressive look and distinctive sport interiors. To compete, successfully, in World Rally Championship, a dedicated model, the RS 1800, was introduced to complete the line up. Successful results has been achieved. From 1975 to 1979 the Ford Escort RS 1800 won for five consecutive years the prestigious RAC (Royal Automobile Club) Rally, the most important rally event organized in the United Kingdom and an important milestone of the World Rally Championship.
Honda CB1000F (1:12) Description: Tamiya is proud to announce the release of the Honda CB1000F as a new addition to our 1/12 Motorcycle Series. Honda’s CB series of road sport bikes has a long and proud history of innovation; it started with the 1959 Benly CB92 Super Sports and includes machines such as the genre-defining 1969 CB750 FOUR and its inline four engine, the DOHC 4-valve engine CB750F/900F developed for the European market, and the race-focused 1981 CB1100R. Fast forward to March 2025 and Honda announced that its existing flagship CB1300SF would be passing on the torch to the CB1000F Concept. Shortly after, in November of that year it went on sale as the CB1000F. The CB1000F’s “Best Balance Roadster” design concept demanded that it be at home in a variety of scenes from everyday use to touring. It inherits and updates the iconic “Flowing Line” styling popularised on its CB750F/900F predecessors, the shape flowing smoothly from the tank right back to the rear cowl, via the side covers to give the bike its powerful and speedy silhouette. The round LED headlight catches the eye with its modern yet traditional design encircled by a ring-shaped light and featuring a plated rim and central section inscribed with the HONDA logo. At the rear, the seat’s surface pattern is inspired by the CB750F, and the eye is drawn to design cues like the large taillight and the muffler that dominates the right side of the bike. Some say the CB designation stands for the C in “motor cycle” and the B in “clubman,” but it could be argued that this new iteration has a C for “creative” and a B for “benchmark.” Either way, it promises hours of stress-free riding for all: another icon in a series full of them. Kawasaki Ninja ZX-12R (1:12) Kawasaki's legacy of cutting-edge sportbikes has inspired motorcycle fans for generations. Recently, the call for 300km/h plus super sports bikes has motivated several manufactures to bring out powerful contenders. Kawasaki answered the call at the 1999 Paris Motorcycle Show, with the impressive debut of their all-new Ninja ZX-12R. This Ninja was reportedly created in the image of a fighter plane, which comes as no surprise considering that its slippery aerodynamics involved the cooperation of the Aerospace Division of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. In fact, the ZX-12R spent more time in the wind tunnel during its development phase than any motorcycle in Kawasaki's history. The results are evident: small winglets on the sides of the fairing separate airflow around the bike; small wind deflectors on the lower forks deflect turbulent air from the engine; a long lip on the edge of the fairing further smooths out airflow. Also, projecting just ahead of the front fairing, a large scoop takes advantage of higher air pressure, heightening intake efficiency. A monocoque frame backbone creates an airbox that allows air to pass through the inside of the bike for cooling in addition to ensuring overall rigidity. The powerplant of the Ninja ZX-12R is a fuel injected 4-cylinder 1,199cc engine that pumps out an abundant 178hp. Its four-into-two-into-one exhaust system features a titanium muffler paired with a catalyzer, which helps eliminate unburned hydrocarbons for cleaner emissions. Kawasaki brilliantly raised the superbike standard in performance, power and aerodynamics with their series flagship, the Ninja ZX-12R. SUZUKI RGV- XR89 The opening round of the 500cc class 1999 World Road Race Championships was set ablaze in the heat of the Malaysian GP. Although it was Team Honda that was said to have the advantage in the opening race of the season, they would be denied victory by young rider, Kenny Roberts, Jr. and the rest of the Suzuki team. New to the Suzuki team, Roberts, Jr. secured a third place finish in the qualifying round before burning rubber to a victory which surprised everyone, especially Team Honda. Proving his triumph was no fluke, Roberts, Jr. went on to win the second round too, this time on the rain soaked course of the Japan GP. On his way to the checkered flag in Japan, Roberts, Jr. was also successful in beating out five year champion Honda NSR rider, Michael Doohan. The 1999 version of the RGV-Gamma is known as the XR89. Its development centered on creating greater overall balance to unlock its maneuverability and cornering speed. The V-type 4-cylinder engine of XR89 model is cradled by a lightweight, aluminum twin-tube frame. The potential of the RGV-Gamma was more than proved by Roberts, Jr., who mounted the victory podium eight times in 1999, securing a very respectable overall season ranking of second place. Yamaha RZV500R Tamiya welcomes an updated re-issue of Item 14037 1/12 Yamaha RZV500R (sold in 2011 last time) with a newly added B5-size double-sided pamphlet with colour photos of the full-size bike for painting reference and updated instruction manuals. The Yamaha RZV500R was announced at the Tokyo Motor Show 1983 with specs that basically made it equivalent to the road racer YZR500.
