Class 23 'Baby Deltic' H/code Box D5901 BR Green (SYP)
Another type that has never been produced in N scale, the new EFE Rail models tell the story of this Class of ten locomotives that were ordered from English Electric as part of BR’s 1955 Modernisation Plan. Despite a service life spanning little more than ten years, the Baby Deltics have an interesting past; being rebuilt after just a few short years in service and emerging again with a distinct new look before their premature demise.
The EFE Rail models have been designed to portray the real locomotives throughout their working lives so two bodyshells have been produced, one with headcode discs for the as-built examples and a second with central headcode panels. Boasting injection moulded bodyshells with fine relief detail and precision engraving, all of the locomotive’s defining features are recreated in miniature. Separate metal handrails are added aside each cab door and on the nose ends, whilst below the solebar separate tanks are fitted and the bogies are crafted with full brake and suspension detail.
Powered by a coreless motor, DCC provision comes in the form of a Next18 decoder socket and space is provided for a speaker for those wishing to add sound. Directional lights are fitted and a switch is provided on the PCB to turn off the red tail lights, or this can be done via a function key when a DCC decoder is fitted.

Class 66 '66001' DB Cargo
The Class 66 is a type of Co-Co heavy freight locomotive and was originally ordered by EWS to replace and update the freight fleet post privatisation in 1996. 250 Class 66s were ordered from General Motors Electromotive Division (EMD) and these were built in London, Ontario, Canada. Subsequent freight operators, Freightliner, GB Railfreight and Direct Rail Services (DRS) also ordered batches of these locomotives. Overall the locomotive has been successful in service, offering improved reliability and performance over its predecessors. However the locomotive has also had its critics, partly due to the comfort the design offered drivers and staff and probably their ubiquity, ousting many different types of British built locomotives commonly seen prior to its commissioning. As a testament to the commercial success of the Class 66, it has been certified for use in many European countries (known as the Series 66) and can be seen commonly in Germany, Poland and Sweden amongst others. During its long service, the locomotive has been modified many times including low emission variants for greener running and highly geared models for hauling heavier loads albeit at slower speeds. The Class 66 is still in operation and is used by DB, GBRf, Freightliner, DRS and Colas Rail.
Features:

Class 66 '66096' EWS
Features:

Smooth running 5 pole next generation motor

DCC Sound ready, Next-18 decoder socket (recommended 6 function decoder)
Independent directional front/rear main lighting control—day and night lighting with four light clusters being modelled

Class 66 '66846' Colas Rail Freight

Class 47/8 47849 BR InterCity (Swallow)
The Class 47 was British Railways’ most prolific class of main-line diesel locomotive and so it’s no surprise that high fidelity models of these ever-popular machines are available in N Scale as part of the flagship Graham Farish range. Such was their success that Class 47s went through various upgrade and refurbishment programmes during their careers, to extend their lives or ready them for new services, resulting in various sub-classes being used to group locomotives that had undergone the same work, or were built with similar features, such as the Class 47/4s which were those locomotives fitted with Electric Train Heating (ETH). Whilst not an official sub-class, some Class 47/4s were fitted with extended range fuel tanks allowing them to work longer distances and such machines were identified by being renumbered into the 478xx series. With their larger fuel tanks, these Class 47s were put to work on cross country routes and following Privatisation, the 47/8s were used by Virgin Cross Country. No. 47849 received its extended range fuel tanks in 1990 and was renumbered from 47570, remaining in InterCity livery long into Privatisation before it was repainted into Virgin colours in 2000 and so making this locomotive suitable for both Era 8 and Era 9 operations.
Our new InterCity model takes full advantage to the recent upgrades that have benefited the Graham Farish Class 47, namely the technical advancements which see the model boasting a Next18 DCC decoder interface, pre-fitted speaker, cab lighting (when used on DCC) and independent control of the directional lights at each end.

Class 47/4 47555 'The Commonwealth Spirit' BR RF Distribution European
The Class 47 was British Railways’ most prolific class of main-line diesel locomotive and so it’s no surprise that high fidelity models of these ever-popular machines are available in N Scale as part of the flagship Graham Farish range. Such was their success that Class 47s served on the front line of BR services for many decades and even in the 1990s, some 30+ years after their introduction, they were still being used for top link services, like hauling the Royal Train or in this case, as part of the fleet used for freight services via the then brand new Channel Tunnel linking the UK and the mainland Europe.
The Railfreight Distribution European livery, as distinguished by the large lettering on the bodyside and blue roof, was introduced in the mid-1990s and was applied to distinguish those locomotives allocated to traffic flows serving Dollands Moor and the Channel Tunnel Freight Services, which used the Channel Tunnel from its opening in 1994. Class 47/4 No. 47555 ‘The Commonwealth Spirit’, which was something of a celebrity with spotters and enthusiasts, was one of the locomotives selected for this pool and was repainted resplendently into the new livery by Tinsley which added its Yorkshire Rose depot motif to the cab sides in the process.
‘The Commonwealth Spirit’ takes full advantage to the recent upgrades that have benefited the Graham Farish Class 47, namely the technical advancements which see the model boasting a Next18 DCC decoder interface, pre-fitted speaker, cab lighting (when used on DCC) and independent control of the directional lights at each end.

Class 47/7 47712 'Lady Diana Spencer' BR ScotRail
The Class 47 was British Railways’ most prolific class of main-line diesel locomotive and so it’s no surprise that high fidelity models of these ever-popular machines are available in N Scale as part of the flagship Graham Farish range. Such was their success that Class 47s went through various upgrade and refurbishment programmes during their careers, to extend their lives or ready them for new services, and the Class 47/7 sub-class is just one example – these locomotives being fitted with extended range fuel tanks and cab-front jumper cables to work push-pull trains in Scotland. No. 47712 ‘Lady Diana Spencer’ was one of the first twelve locomotives converted to a 47/7, having entered works as Class 47/4 No. 47505, and is modelled in the striking BR ScotRail livery with bold grey, white and blue bodyside bands and large yellow ends and cab rooves. The real locomotive survives in preservation today, and has recently been returned to service on the main line, in much the same 1980s condition as depicted by our model.
‘Lady Diana Spencer’ takes full advantage to the recent upgrades that have benefited the Graham Farish Class 47, namely the technical advancements which see the model boasting a Next18 DCC decoder interface, pre-fitted speaker, cab lighting (when used on DCC) and independent control of the directional lights at each end.

BR ordered ten new Co-Cos from Derby Works as part of its appraisal of comparative locomotive designs (dubbed the ‘Pilot Scheme’). They were inspired by the LMS’ and Southern’s pioneer diesel designs and were outwardly similar to English Electric’s Type 4 (subsequently Class 40). Although fitted with a Sulzer 12LDA28 diesel engine capable of 2,300hp, the new BR Type 4s were heavy. Their 133 ton weight required a 1Co-Co1 wheel arrangement.
The first, D1, emerged from Derby in 1959 and was named Scafell Pike. The remaining nine locomotives were also named after English and Welsh peaks and the class soon gained the nickname ‘Peak’, which was also applied to the subsequent Class 45s and Class 46s.
Although a mixed traffic design, they were initially used on West Coast Main Line passenger services before being transferred en masse to the Midland Main Line. The subsequent arrival of the Sulver Type 4s (later Class 45) meant that the BR Type 4s (which would become Class 44 on TOPS) were allocated predominantly to freight work radiating out from Toton. Consequently, they could be seen as far afield as York or Severn Tunnel Junction.
Any small class of locomotive was always under threat and the ‘44s’ were no exceptions. 44003 was withdrawn in July 1976 and all had gone by the end of 1980. Happily, two survive: D8 Penyghent is based at Peak Rail and D4 Great Gable is owned by the Peak Locomotive Company and is based at the Midland Railway-Butterley.

This all-new Graham Farish model follows in the footsteps of the brand’s award winning Class 319 Electric Multiple Unit and captures this iconic prototype to a tee.
The pinnacle of N scale second generation DMUs, the Graham Farish Class 158 combines high fidelity bodyshells with an underframe that’s adorned with separate components depicting the engines, electrical equipment, and auxiliary gear. It’s the livery application which really brings these models to life and every element has been replicated in miniature. Whilst the main colours are spray painted, the myriad smaller logos, symbols and lettering are applied using a specialist printing process, using BR and corporate specification fonts, logos and colours.
Driven by the low-level drive mechanism, each vehicle sports uninterrupted views of the interior which is fitted out with tables, chairs and even metal luggage racks – made visible thanks to the saloon lighting. The inter-vehicle coupling system ensure that the two vehicles work together in harmony and enables the use of a single decoder for DCC operation. Fitting that decoder couldn’t be easier thanks to the clip-off underframe panel behind which the decoder socket is fitted and combined with the pre-fitted speaker, it’s easy to fit sound to your model
