VW Beetle - White (Abbey Road) (N) You have been treated to this VW replica in 1:76 scale a while back and it’s great to have it available again in 1:148 scale.  Its fascinating background has an unusual link to the world of pop music as any Beatles fan will realise. If you are the proud owner of their Abbey Road album, you may already have noticed the record sleeve featuring a white VW Beetle parked in the background of the shot with the Fab Four on the famous zebra crossing to the Abbey Road Studios. Further immortalised by Oxford Diecast, our latest release is that exact vehicle, registered LMW 281F from 1967/68. It is decorated in its original Lotus White colour scheme with black interior and chrome exterior finish and don’t overlook a final detail which sees the black running boards edged with silver.

VW T2 Bay Window Bus/Surfboards Signal Orange/White (N) This popular version of the VW Bay Window Bus is synonymous with surfboards whether you are ‘down the Gower’, on the Cornish coast or enjoying the surf wherever there’s a wave. You’ll see a VW with surfboards for sure!  Our model is registered WAF 905J from 1970 and features a modified roof rack which is painted brown and silver to take the two orange and white surfboards. The two-tone orange and white VW has a black chassis and beige interior.   The characteristic bay window and the remaining window surrounds are all masked black. The exterior also features a wealth of chrome in contrast with the bright orange bodywork.

Oxford Diecast Land Rover Defender LWB - British Gas (N)

Land Rover Defender LWB - British Gas (N) Land Rover introduced the Defender in the early 1980s as a rugged, versatile four-wheel drive, all terrain vehicle and with cargo capacity for a wealth of equipment or baggage, the Defender could handle anything. Registered E203 PWR from 1987, our long wheel base version is decorated in the signature blue and white livery of British Gas at that time.  Deployed with British Gas North Eastern, as depicted on the cab doors, the body is white with royal blue lower body and roof and featuring fine lighter blue/aquamarine stripes along the waist.  The interior is black and exterior trim features both black and silver finish. The matt black radiator grille has the Land Rover 110 name above in the centre while the spare wheel is fixed to the centre of the back door.

Their innovative technologies have developed a vehicle with class-leading efficiency and low running costs. As they say themselves - squeezing the absolute maximum out of every drop of fuel! As a result, in typical roading, loading, excavating and idle cycles, the 3CX JCB backhoe loader, equipped with a powerful Ecomax engine, delivers an average fuel saving of up to 16%, plus lower emissions and noise levels. As well as the environmental benefits, the JCB 3CX features a brand new engine, more torque than rival vehicles, new electronic engine management system and new powerslide for faster, easier repositioning. The detailed components of the 'real thing' are realistically produced on our Oxford model which appears in the JCB corporate yellow and black colour scheme. The forward body, lifting arms and wheel centres are all yellow with cab, chassis, buckets and interior appearing in black. A flash of colour sees the side piston tubes painted red alongside silver exhaust pipes and headlights. Ford Cortina Mk5 - Cosmos Blue (1:76) Our model represents the last in the Ford of Great Britain Cortina series in real life, which dominated the British road scene from the early 1960s to the early 1980s. Ford launched the Mk 5 - an upgraded Mk IV - in August 1979. Marketed as a medium sized family car with prices starting at £3,475, the visible differences included revised headlights incorporating larger indicators, a slatted front grille, a flattened roof, slimmer C-pillars and revised vent cover.  The interior also benefited from detailed changes, including the dashboard and centre console. Improvements were also made to the engine range resulting in better fuel economy and power output. The 2.3-litre V6 engine was given electronic ignition and a slight boost in power output to 116 bhp, compared with the 108 bhp Mark IV. Ford also added improved corrosion protection on Mark V models, which is probably why more have survived. Our 1:76 scale vehicle tooling incorporates the upgraded external features of the real car and is registered FOL 414V from 1979. It is decorated in bright blue with black roof, pillars and window surrounds.  The black finish also extends to the side sills and radiator grille.  The interior is moulded in a rich brown with black trim while a final exterior detail sees the 1.6 GL  printed in silver on the boot lid. Grand Luxury indeed.

Oxford Diecast Ford Anglia - Monaco Red (1:76)

Ford Anglia - Monaco Red (1:76) The Ford Motor Company introduced their fourth generation of the Anglia name, the 105E, in 1959 characterised by its unique backward slanting rear window. When it ceased manufacture in 1967, over 1 million cars had rolled off its Dagenham production line.  It came in various body options and our Oxford’s two-door saloon version is based on what Ford described as a small family car.  It sported a 997 cc engine and was capable of a top speed of 73.8 mph, accelerating from 0-60 in 26.9 seconds. With fuel consumption of 41 miles per gallon, it cost £610 on the road. Here we see this model dressed in a vibrant red colour scheme with a smart white flash along the sides. The interior seating, dashboard and steering wheel are also red. Registered HJN 662D, our model dates back to 1966. A silver trim to the wheels, grille and bumpers also includes a final flourish with the Ford Anglia ‘Deluxe’ signature across the boot.

Bedford CF Van - Eastern Gas (1:76) The Bedford CF small commercial van was first introduced by Bedford - in 1969. It succeeded the  Bedford CA van and was seen as a competitor to rival Ford’s Transit van. It was the last vehicle to be designed solely by Vauxhall and was one of the most popular light commercials of the day due its versatility, which included it being a template for a caravanette, notably the Bedford Dormobile. With longitudinal front engine and rear wheel drive and transmission of 2/4/5 manual to a 3-speed General Moors automatic, the CF Van was given a facelift in 1980, which introduced a 2.3L diesel engine as an alternative to the petrol engine. Our very useful CF Van makes its latest entrance in a 1980s Gas livery, this time as used by the utility company’s Eastern branch. With a white body and royal blue roof and white bonnet, the model has been masked along the sides and rear with royal blue, light blue and aquamarine stripes. The bumpers are also white and the Eastern Gas logo features in white on the cab and rear doors.  Our Gas van is registered MMJ 153P from 1975.

Austin Mini - Speedwell Blue (1:76) The much loved and great classic Austin Mini has been a motoring icon since it was launched in 1959.  This British car, designed by Alec Issigonis and his talented team, set the benchmark and definitely the trend for nippy vehicles ideally suited for towns and cities, where its versatility and ability to park in small spaces made it a must for ordinary young and old to rich and famous motorists alike. Our 1:76 scale miniature comes decorated in pale blue with white roof with an early registration plate – 285 JYB. The interior and the seats are moulded in mid grey with a black steering wheel. The exterior trim is silver including the bumpers, window surrounds and wipers while the radiator grille is silver and black. The colourful Austin badge sits centrally on the edge of the bonnet and the trim is rounded off by the Austin Seven signature across the boot.

Oxford Diecast Austin Maestro - London Fire Brigade (1:76)

Austin Maestro - London Fire Brigade (1:76) Introduced in 1983, the Maestro was a 5-door family hatchback, produced by British Leyland at their Morris Cowley works. It had a 5-speed manual gearbox and a basic 1.3L engine rising to 1.6L on later models. It incorporated many innovative features for its time. It had a bonded laminated windscreen, homofocal headlights, body-coloured plastic bumpers, an electronic engine management system, adjustable front seat belt anchorage positions, an asymmetrically split rear seat and a 12.000 mile service interval. Here we see it in a commercial role, as a support vehicle for the London Fire Brigade, registered B576 WYO from 1984. Looking at the signature badge on the back, the Brigade chose the top of the range 1.6L which was probably necessary given its purpose. The bright red body colour is in sharp contrast to the black trim, while the wheels are silver with black dots.  The interior seating is mid grey.  The Maestro has an alphanumeric ID -  C435 printed in front of the front wheel arch and London Fire Brigade along the edge of the bonnet and across the boot. The highly colourful London Fire Brigade crest with London Fire Brigade GLC lettering beneath is printed on both the front doors.

Oxford Diecast Austin 1300 GT - Aqua (1:76)

Austin 1300 GT - Aqua (1:76) BMC unveiled the front engine, front-wheel drive Austin/Morris 1300 GT at the London Motor Show in 1969. Designed by the legendary Alec Issigonis, key features included a 1275 cc twin carburettor engine, a black full width grille, black vinyl roof and a thick black metal strip along the side, all designed to convey a sporty image. In 1971 the Mark III version appeared, lasting in production until 1974 when the range was superseded by the Austin Allegro and the Vanden Plas 1500. A popular model in our Oxford 1:76 series, this colour scheme on the Austin 1300 GT is a delightful watery shade of blue with black roof and lots of silver masking. Registered RVB 740L from 1972, our 1:76 scale replica sports a steel blue interior with black dashboard and steering wheel. Further details include the Austin name is printed at the top of the black and silver radiator grille, with its GT status is printed in red on the grille and also behind the rear side windows. The boot lid carries the 1300 GT marque to the right of the rear registration plate.

Oxford Diecast Mercedes Whitby Mondial Ice Cream Van Tonibell (1:76)

Mercedes Whitby Mondial Ice Cream Van Tonibell You’ve been treated to this exact same model in 1:43 scale; this issue reveals it joining the 1:148 series too; and now it appears again, especially for 1:76 scale ice cream van followers. It is such a delightful and eye-catching vehicle which is as irresistible as the ice cream!  The frothy bright pink body with black trim is just covered with a mass of pastel shades including the signature Tonibell cow, with her famous bell collar, as she appears on all sides of the van.  Ice cream cones top the front of the roof and the side hatch promotes all the delicious varieties on offer. The Whitby Company set up business in 1962 and acquired the Morrison Industries Electrofreeze company in 1989, to be morphed into Whitby Morrison Mondial. Their worldwide market in ice cream vans spans over 50 countries, all from their Cheshire base, which is still family owned. The sight and sound of an ice cream van always heralds the UK summer and the latest introduction is a sure sign of the season to come! - OO/1:76 Scale

Oxford Diecast Leyland TLM Liverpool Fire Brigade (1:76)

Leyland TLM Liverpool Fire Brigade The Leyland TLM fire engine was introduced in the 1930s and was noted for its reliability, being in use throughout WWII and long after production ceased.  Its special features included an inline six petrol engine and usually a 100ft turntable ladder configuration by either Merryweather or the German company Merz. Liverpool in particular favoured the TLM and here we see it registered EKA 342 as it served with the City’s Fire Brigade. You may recall that the previous Oxford TLM release featured a closed cab which was highly unusual but here we are back to the more familiar completely open vehicle. With bright red body and wheels, the bonnet is masked black, the ladders are silver and the interior components black.  Additional trim is silver including the coach lines along the body, the radiator grille surround and the starting handle. Much used in urban areas, especially during the War, we can imagine it served a city like Liverpool extremely well during those dark times. A proper hero! - OO/1:76 Scale

Ford Transit Beavertail Recovery 24hr Recovery The Ford Motor Company introduced the Ford Transit commercial ‘family’ of vehicles in 1965.  And the brand is still going strong today, having evolved physically and mechanically along the way with numerous configurations and uses.  The Transit name itself has become a generic term for small commercial vehicles and here at Oxford Diecast, we have kept up with all the changes to shapes and uses along the way. Our latest introduction is the simple Ford Transit recovery/breakdown version which features a two-door Ford Transit cab and long trailer, designed especially for rescuing vehicles from the roadside It is registered FCR 238L from  1971 so it is quite early in the Ford Transit’s evolution.  Painted completely in white, the graphics clearly state in red and orange its 24 hour recovery facility. The exterior trim is black apart from the platform which is silver. The interior is also black. An additional tooling modification comprises a pyramid style roof box with an orange beacon above the cab. Add your own 1:76 scale ‘rescued’ vehicle to the platform for added realism. - OO/1:76 Scale

Oxford Diecast Burrell Scenic Showmans Loco Winston Churchill (1:76)

Burrell Scenic Showmans Loco Winston Churchill As countrywide fairs and steam rallies roll in for the summer season, it is a wonderful opportunity to take another trip down memory lane with Oxford’s Showmans series. Our new release on the Burrell Scenic Loco is absolutely splendid too. The colourful steam locomotive started its real life in 1922, commissioned by Holland Bros. It was designed with a longer boiler and an electric dynamo, especially for powering fairground use. It was delivered to them to power Albert Holland’s Peacock and Dragon Scenic Ride. The locomotive was originally named Prince Albert which was changed in preservation to Winston Churchill. Around 1952, the late Eric Middleton bought the locomotive directly from the Hollands in Swadlincote, Derbyshire for about £250. Having lain derelict and abandoned for some years, the locomotive was in very bad condition. However, Eric restored the engine completely and sold it to the Hardwick family who rallied it extensively in the 1980s. It is now owned by the Marchington family.  The 1:76 scale model appears in crimson with a white roof and black masking. Dropped shadow lettering along the edge of the roof promote the Holland’s Golden Dragons; the Winston Churchill nameplate features in gold and red on the locomotive side.  Also in red and gold, the front of the boiler carries the customary C Burrell & Sons Engineers Ltd name and The “Burrell Road Locomotive” lettering. It is estimated that each of the Oxford Showmans series models requires at least 100 printing operations and it is easy to see why.  There is illustrious decoration and colour throughout, resulting in another desirable steam locomotive to light up your fairground diorama. - OO/1:76 Scale

Oxford Diecast Bedford CF Hanlon Ambulance Merseyside Ambulance Service (1:76)

Bedford CF Hanlon Ambulance Merseyside Ambulance Service The Bedford CF was a range of full size commercial vans produced by Bedford, the commercial division of Vauxhall, between 1969 and 1986, when it represented the last vehicle produced solely by Vauxhall. It was a very versatile model – a competitor to the Ford Transit – and was adapted widely due to its space and reliability. It was a particular favourite when configured as an ambulance with conversions being undertaken by specialised coach builders, including the Irish company Hanlon.  Such ambulances had coachbuilt bodies to accommodate the necessary headroom and interior capacity for patients and equipment. The Oxford Diecast Bedford CF Hanlon Ambulance is registered B575 LKA, the year in which the CF featured modernised engines and transmission options. Our 1:76 scale replica is based on the vehicle used by the Merseyside Metropolitan Ambulance Service and appears in white with the red Day-Glo stripe running round the sides and across the rear doors. Black printing on the cab doors indicates the ambulance served Stockport and further exterior trim is finished in black or chrome while additional detail to the front radiator grille sees two blue lights between the chrome headlights.  The roof also has an air horn/siren painted red and two blue roof beacons. The side and rear windows have a blacked out effect surrounded by chrome.  And - on this model - note the single wheels on the rear chassis. - OO/1:76 Scale

Oxford Diecast Grumann Avenger White 83 USS Petrof Bay 1945 (1:72)

Grumann Avenger White 83 USS Petrof Bay 1945 The Grumman Avenger was the British version of the American TBF-1 Avenger and the RAF used these under a lend-lease agreement.  However, our latest release is an Avenger that served with the US forces towards the end of WWII in combat with the Japanese in the Pacific. It was classed as a naval aircraft torpedo bomber and our 1:72 scale Grumman is a replica of the bomber flying with 76 Squadron from the aircraft carrier USS Petrof Bay. It comprised a single engine monoplane with capacity for up to a four-man crew. The livery on this model is quite striking with its midnight blue and dark sea grey two-tone upper side and white underbody.  Graphics are in white, including a four leaf clover on the tail fin. The nose art features a provocative and colourful ‘Blopsy’. The Grumman’s offensive armament comprised two forward facing Browning machine guns and a further rear-facing defensive Browning machine gun in the turret.  These are faithfully reproduced on our model painted black.  Finite details also include the black propellers with their yellow tips, the rust finished exhaust pipes and the silver propeller hub/spinner. - 1:72 Scale

VW T1 Samba Bus Yellow/White The VW T1 Samba Bus, with its split windscreen and a wide variety of two-tone colour schemes, is a firm favourite amongst collectors and this bright variation will undoubtedly continue the trend. In real life, it was the top of the range in luxury and style, based on the original first generation VW T1 of 1951. Decorated with a bright yellow body and matching wheels, the upper body is painted white including the roof, which incorporates a grey-beige roof panel, replicating the canvas original. The interior is moulded in light cream, including the seats and steering wheel while the dashboard is finished in a rich brown. Exterior trim is chrome and black and the deep white V, trimmed with chrome at the front, also features the VW logo in the centre. Our Samba Bus is registered YFR 278. This model stirs up memories of firing up that distinctive purring engine and taking to the road with family and everything on board, including the pets! - 1:76 Scale

Sunbeam Rapier Mk.III Velvet Green/Sage Green Modelled on the Sunbeam Rapier produced by the Rootes Group between 1955 and 1976, our Oxford 1:76 scale model is based on the two door Series III which was introduced in 1959. Improvements over its predecessors included modified side grilles, a re-styled number plate recess on the boot and a revised side flash with the Rapier logo towards the rear. Windscreen pillars were finer, increasing the windscreen area while inside, the seats and control panels were also upgraded.  Our 1:76 scale model appears featuring these refinements in another of the Rapier’s authentic bright two-tone colour schemes with a deep green body and pale green  masked roof, side flash and wheel inserts.  The interior seating is moulded in a soft muted green. Oxford Diecast Ford Transit Mk.4 RAC (1:76)

Ford Transit Mk.4 RAC The Ford Transit Mk4 represented the 3rd generation of the vehicle in real life, spanning the years from 2000 to 2006.  This vehicle was different in that it had been designed in the USA and contained many cutting edge features; it came with automatic transmission; front or rear wheel drive; more cargo space and greater towing capacity. An option on rear wheel drive models included controls mounted on the dashboard, a specially adapted manual mode, tow-haul mode, economy mode and winter mode. All of these plus points would have made it an ideal vehicle for the RAC, whose key role is helping motorists in distress in all conditions and sometimes over difficult terrain. Our model is registered VE03 GGZ from 2003 and is decorated in the ultra modern bright orange with red and white chevron back with a blue and white panel promoting the RAC. To the sides and front, the printed information is in white against the orange ground, as well as a dark blue and white panel masked along the sides. A notable feature is the clever way in which the offside front wing chevron decals have been printed over the curved surface – it is absolutely flush!  The van interior is moulded completely black. A final tooling modification on this release sees the addition of a roof bar positioned right at the back of the roof – authentic down to the final detail! - 1:76 Scale

Oxford Diecast Austin Princess - Black (Beatles) (N)

A long wheelbase late edition Austin Princess DM4 registered FGO 486C from 1965. The gleaming black exterior bodywork is complemented with a silver finish to window frames, mirrors, door handles, radiator grille and bumpers. The interior is moulded with tan seating, door panels, dashboard and flooring. The steering wheel is finished in black. In real life, the Austin Princess DM4 first appeared in the early 1950s and was produced until 1968. During its lifetime, it appeared in Early, Mid and Late format and this Oxford replicates its later period. No wonder its prestigious pedigree made it the preferred transport for the Beatles during this time. - N Scale

Oxford Diecast Austin-Morris J4 Van - Blue (1:76)

The Morris Commercial J4 van was a 10 cwt (0.5 ton) forward control van which Morris Commercial launched in 1960. It quickly became the ‘go to’ vehicle for deliveries due to its style and capacity. As a result it was a familiar sight on UK roads decorated in the likes of Royal Mail, British Rail, the Police as well as by smaller firms as a general utility vehicle. Painted in a rich blue with no livery at all and so the effect focuses the eye on its styling. The silver exterior trim takes in the distinctive radiator grille, above which the Austin badge is printed in red on silver.  BMC of which Austin was also part, interchanged the Austin and Morris marques by using different badges, radiator grilles etc, one of which carried through to the J van as seen on this model. Registered 2417 BP, this version has dark blue wheels to match the body colour while the interior is moulded in black with dark blue dashboard. The double doors at the back would have made loading and unloading easy and the two small back windows incorporate a glazed effect, adding even more realism. - 1:76 Scale

Austin Mini Metro - British School of Motoring Oxford’s Austin Mini Metro adds a bit of variety to the mix with this latest BSM livery, a familiar sight on the 1980s roads. How many of we experienced drivers have had to exercise patience when behind one of these in its day? Learner drivers of the 1980s would have found the Austin Mini Metro a very easy car to test their ability. It came as a 3-door hatchback - the subject of our Oxford tooling – or a 5 door model. The engine size was either a 1.0L or 1.3L with a 4-speed manual gearbox. The Mini Metro had front wheel drive and a top speed of 84 mph and if you were practising three point turns, reversing round corners or parking, it was very compact and easy to park, so was a particular favourite. The livery is pure nostalgia! The bright red body colour has a wide blue and white flash along the sides incorporating an outline of the map of Great Britain with white BSM lettering beneath. The red roof features the BSM L Driver beacon while along the line of the boot is their famous slogan Every SEVEN minutes someone passes with BSM. The interior of the car is moulded in black and it is registered KWC 332Y from 1982. The British School of Motoring still exists today although now under the auspices of the Automobile Association, offering driving lessons and instructor training amongst other things. - 1:76 Scale

Oxford Diecast DH Mosquito NF MkII P.G.Wykeham-Barnes. RAF No.23 Sqn. (1:72)

This 1:72 scale Oxford aircraft represents a No. 23 Squadron Mosquito which was deployed to RAF Luqa in Malta. The squadron was the first to use the Mosquito in the Mediterranean, having transferred there in December 1942. Its key role was to perform intruder and bomber escort missions attacking enemy  infrastructure in North Africa and Southern Italy, often flying low and fast. The Mosquito’s versatility played a vital part, with great success. Wing Commander Peter Wykeham-Barnes was the commanding officer at Luqa and was to become one of WWII’s famous Bomber Aces, surviving the conflict and highly decorated too. Born on 13 September 1915 in Sandhurst, Surrey, Peter Wykeham-Barnes joined the RAF as an aircraft apprentice in 1932. Later he became a cadet at RAF College, Cranwell and was commissioned in 1937. After a series of deployments at home and abroad, he took over 23 Squadron on Mosquito II night intruders, leading the unit out to Malta. Whilst with 23 Squadron his navigator was 116970 Flying Officer Geoffrey Ernest Palmer, DFC. Together, they were a formidable team with great successes against the Luftwaffe. Wykeham-Barnes ended the war with 3 and 1 shared biplane victories and a total of 14 and 3 shared destroyed. Post-war, he took an Air Ministry post followed by secondment to the USAF in Korea, where he flew night intruder sorties in B-26 Invaders of the 90th Bomber Group, USAF, and was awarded the US Air Medal.  He ended his career in UK defence  as Deputy Chief of the Air Staff and retired as Air Marshal Sir Peter Wykeham, KCB, DSO and Bar, OBE, DFC and Bar, AFC.  He died on 23 February 1995. With so much history behind it, our heroic model appears decorated in the night fighter garb of dark grey and dark green upper side and matt black underside with matt black nose, dorsal patch, guns and rear tyres. On the upper side, the No Step warning signs in red indicate the fragility of the structure in the area between the two engines which would not support any weight.  Also in red are the aircraft identity markings DZ230 and YP-A along the length of the fuselage. The RAF roundel also features a yellow outer circle to make it more easily visible to other friendly aircraft. The island of Malta was awarded the George Cross for its bitter battles against the enemy during WWII and without doubt the DH Mosquito played a great part in its success. - 1:72 Scale

The 1:76 scale Hillman Minx MkIIIA, painted in a very regal dark red and mid grey. It is registered YDU 799 and features silver external trim and white wall tyres. The interior dashboard and seating are moulded in a deep red with pale grey steering wheel. In real life, this classic British saloon car of the 1950s and 1960s was manufactured by the Rootes Group with their in-house designed Audax body, the upgraded MkIIIA appearing in 1959 as a slightly larger vehicle than its predecessors.  It came with both manual and automatic transmission with the automatic option comprising a Smiths Easidrive system -the first production dual-clutch type, which was to carry it right up to 1970. - 1:76 Scale

Previously modelled in 1:43 scale many ice cream years ago, we at Oxford are delighted to reintroduce our lovely Bedford CA Ice Cream van in the famous bright pink Tonibell livey, this time in the smaller 1:76 scale. The story of Tonibell ice cream goes back to 1937 when Italian born Tony Pignatelli and his Scottish wife founded an ice cream manufacturing business known as Toni’s in a high street shop in the Home Counties. They purchased their first mobile vehicle in 1951 – a bicycle with an ice cream container on the front. A year later they purchased a small van converted to sell ice cream complete with chimes!  Business expanded and changed hands many times over the years, including the name which became Tonibell. At its peak, Tonibell ran 500 vans and 15 ice cream parlours. Of course, the 1960s was also a peak time for the ubiquitous split windscreen CA Van, so this popular little vehicle was a prime choice as an ice cream van.  Here we see it in the bright pink colour scheme with side window hatch decorated with all the frozen delights on offer. The Tonibell cow, complete with cowbell, features all over the van, with the strap line ‘Tonibell dairy ice cream.’ Irresistible!   - 1:76 Scale

Land Rover Defender LWB St. Wagon - British Gas  Land Rover introduced the Defender in the early 1980s as a rugged, versatile four-wheel drive, all terrain vehicle which appeared as a car and also as a pickup truck. With cargo capacity for a wealth of equipment or baggage, the Defender could handle anything, which made it a great favourite in both military and civilian roles – many of which have preceded this latest release. Registered E203 PWR from 1987, our long wheel base version is decorated in the eye-catching livery of British Gas at that time.  Representing British Gas North Eastern, as depicted on the cab doors, the body is white with royal blue lower body and roof and featuring fine lighter blue/aquamarine stripes along the waist.  The roof is enhanced with a silver spotlight and an orange roof beacon, both essential in some British Gas operating conditions, no doubt. The interior is black and exterior trim features both black and silver finish. Ford Transit Connect Stobart Air  The Ford Motor Company boasts that every Transit is built for purpose and the smaller Ford Transit Connect is no exception with a large cargo capability lending itself to all sorts of commercial van users. Shaped by Ford kinetic design, the van has improved aerodynamics for greater fuel efficiency and high-tech lights for greater visibility. Component parts have also been designed for easy service and replacement. The Eddie Stobart fleet goes from strength to strength in its expansion from road vehicles, then rail traffic and here we have a support vehicle for Stobart Air, which the company took over from the regional airline Aer Arann in Dublin and which operates numerous flights between Ireland, the UK and parts of Europe. Our highly decorative model in the shape of the very modern Ford Transit Connect is registered PK12 AZO. The bright blue graphics on a silver grey background show it as operating out of London Southend Airport. A central chequered band of blue and white runs the complete length of both sides and the blue and white colour scheme is repeated in a chevron effect across the back doors. The bonnet has been given solid blue finish. Stobart Air operates from several small airports in the UK, so you may well see similar support vans in the vicinity of any of them. Ford Transit Connect - RAC  The Ford Transit Connect is a  modern addition to Oxford’s fleet of small commercials which have spanned the decades, reflecting the multiple purposes of the indispensible small van. The Ford Motor Company designed the Connect with a large cargo capacity, as well as incorporating improved aerodynamics for maximum fuel efficiency and high-tech lights for greater visibility.  Component parts were also designed for easy service and replacement. No wonder the Connect appealed to the RAC, whose equally modern livery we feature on this latest 1:76 scale edition. Decorated in the RAC signature orange and white colour scheme, the rear of our Connect carries the diagonal red and white highly visible paintwork, alerting motorists to its presence.  The white lettering on the sides and across the back promotes the RAC in-car services role.   External trim is black, as is the interior.  Our model, registered YR06 FMG, dates from 2006 when it was no doubt fulfilling its essential assistance to the nation’s motorists. - 1:76 Scale

Spitfire X4590 (609 Sqn) Hendon Our 1:72 scale model of the Spitfire Mk I is a replica of the X4590 registered aircraft built in 1940, deployed to 609 Squadron which operated out of RAF Middle Wallop, from where it took part in the Battle of Britain. X4590 was badly damaged in 1941 but was repaired and put into service as a training aircraft before being retired in 1944. Post war, it was preserved and put on display at the RAF Museum in 1978 where it proudly stands today. The model is decorated in the brown and green camouflage scheme with pale green underside. Henschel 126 Gaub/Schroder AFU Recon Group Poland 1939 The Henschel Hs 126 was a German two-seat biplane observation and close support aircraft designed by Henschel Flugzeugwerke AG and manufactured by Weser Flugzeugbau GmbH. It was the standard reconnaissance aircraft of the Luftwaffe at the start of World War II. The Hs 126 was developed in response to a Luftwaffe requirement for a new reconnaissance aircraft to replace the outdated Heinkel He 45 and He 46. The first prototype flew in June 1936, and the aircraft entered production in 1937. It was a highly manoeuvrable aircraft with good visibility, making it well-suited for its reconnaissance role. It was also armed with two forward-firing machine guns and a movable rear-facing machine gun for self-defence. It was used extensively by the Luftwaffe during the early stages of World War II. It was used to support the German invasion of Poland in September 1939, and it played a major role in the Blitzkrieg campaigns in Western Europe and the Balkans in 1940. The Hs 126 was also used in the North African campaign and on the Eastern Front. As the war progressed, the Hs 126 became increasingly vulnerable to Allied fighter aircraft. It was gradually replaced by more modern aircraft, such as the Fieseler Fi 156 Storch and the Henschel Hs 129. However, the Hs 126 remained in service throughout the war, and it was still being used in some theatres in 1945. The Hs 126 was produced in a number of variants, including the A-1 reconnaissance aircraft (as our model AC120), the B-1 light bomber, and the C-1 ground attack aircraft. Gloster Gladiator RAF 72 Sqn Church Fenton 1937 The Gloster Gladiator was a British built single seater biplane fighter manufactured by the Gloucestershire Aircraft Company.  It was used by the RAF and was also exported to a number of other air forces during the late 1930s.   Although a biplane, the Gladiator was very different from the older types.  It was powered by the 840hp British Mercury VIIIA 9-cylinder air-cooled radial engine; it had a top speed of 257 mph and accommodating four Browning 303 machine guns.  RAF Church Fenton in Yorkshire was opened in April 1937 as a result of the RAF’s massive expansion programme and in response to the escalating military activity in Germany under Adolf Hitler. The station was intended as a fighter base to protect the North’s industrial cities and was home to both offensive and defensive squadrons as part of No. 13 Group, including No. 72 Squadron, who had been allocated the Gloster Gladiators. Despite being one of the remaining survivors of a previous aviation era, the Gladiator was also one of the last Allied bi-planes to see service in WWII and its career in the conflict came to an end in May 1940, when it was superseded by the superior and more up to date Hurricane.  However, the Gladiator played an ongoing role in home based reconnaissance duties rather than active combat. Our 1:72 scale replica of K6130 Gladiator Mk I is decorated in all over silver with red and blue markings. The RAF roundel features on the upper and lower wings as well as along the fuselage. Intricate detail includes rust brown exhaust pipe and lighter brown cowling edge. The tyres, guns and engine are black and the wheel hubs are finished in bright red. K6130 was subsequently transferred overseas and on 18th July 1940 while flying over Egypt in cloud, the plane crashed into a hill, killing the RAF pilot and it was totally destroyed. - 1:72 Scale

Oxford Diecast Dornier 335 'Pfeil' Smithsonian (1:72)

Dornier 335 'Pfeil' Smithsonian The Dornier Do 335 Pfeil, meaning "Arrow" in German, was a unique heavy fighter aircraft developed by Dornier for the German Luftwaffe during World War II. It was one of the fastest propeller-driven aircraft ever built, capable of exceeding 750 km/h (466 mph), and was considered a revolutionary design with its unconventional push-pull configuration. Its most distinguishing feature was its push-pull layout, where the two engines were positioned one behind the other, with the propellers on opposite ends of a long shaft. This configuration allowed for the slender fuselage and reduced drag, contributing to the aircraft's remarkable speed and maneuverability. It also enabled the Do 335 to serve as a bomber, with the rear engine providing extra thrust for takeoff and dive bombing. The Do 335 entered service in early 1944 and was initially deployed in a fighter-bomber role. It quickly gained a reputation for its impressive performance, outperforming Allied fighters in speed and climb rate. However, due to the late introduction of the aircraft and the diminishing German war effort, it had a limited impact on the war. The latest addition to the Oxford Aviation range is a 1:72 scale replica of the only Dornier Do 335 'Pfeil' still in existence. The original aircraft is on display in America at the Udva Hazy Centre, Smithsonian Museum, Washington DC. The model comes packed in an Oxford Aviation box and plinth to display the aircraft in flight mode. - 1:72 Scale

Showmans Living Wagon Green/Cream (1:76) Oxford’s living wagons have covered several eras from the simple workmen’s utility hut on wheels to highly decorative Showman’s caravans.  For this release we revert to the time when the Showmans Living Wagon had beautiful spoked wagon wheels and elaborately applied coach lines. Here we see our Living Wagon in bright green with a white roof and cream roof undersides. A black chimney stack is perched on the roof too. The green bodywork has finely detailed gold coachwork applied to the sides, the back and the front door. Oxford Diecast Land Rover Discovery 4 - West Midlands Police (N)

Land Rover Discovery 4 - West Midlands Police Our model Discovery 4, registered BX11 KHB, is based on the upgraded vehicle which Land Rover introduced in 2009, designed by their chief designer, Gerry McGovern. By 2011, the year of our model, Land Rover had introduced improvements, mostly mechanical with emphasis on engines and gearboxes, including an upgraded 3.0L engine – one TDV6 option and the second the SDV6 engine and with a further choice of GS or XS trim. The interior had also been upgraded with contemporary luxury and technological refinements. Against this background, our 1:148 scale vehicle is a replica of that used by West Midlands Police who must have loved the high powered and comfortable Discovery. Decorated in white with the bright blue and yellow chequered sides, the white roof has the Police vehicle number printed in black to aid visibility from the air. The SDV6 GS marque is printed in silver on the back alongside the Land Rover badge. Note the West Midlands Police insignia on the rear side windows and also on the bonnet. Additional detailing on the bodywork includes the contemporary Crimestoppers 0800 telephone number, the orange and yellow POLICE markings under the rear window and the POLICE lightbar on the front of the roof sprayed silver and blue. - N Scale

Oxford Diecast Routemaster London Transport (TT)

Routemaster London Transport The Routemaster was first introduced in the early 50s by London Transport.It emerged as the most popular double decker bus of all time. As one man operated buses came more into use , some of the Routemasters were sold off to a variety of fleets throughout the U.K. Some vehicles were even exported for use in other countries. This history of Oxford Diecast and production in Swansea means the lineage of this model is quite interesting. Many rememember the Corgi (Mettoy) Routemaster that was manufactured in huge numbers. Back in the 1970's when ever we were short of production orders, we just inserted 250,000 buses into the programme. I recall many punch ups with the sales force, who would object strongly as they had the reponsibility of selling whatever was made. Needles to say when they were sold out and the warehouse was empty of Routemasters, they would quickly criticise the factory ! The Mettoy (Corgi) Routemaster was copied by many of the Hong Kong and Chinese manufacturers over the years. My favourite recollection was seeing a terrible copy by an Indian manufacturer. They had bought a sample, but the roof was not straight, there was a 'hump' on the top at the rear; on an internal cavity of the mould there was an insert that came lose from time to time - some production had slipped through with the 'hump' (probably night shhift) and that is what the Indian company had purchased for their sample. In London there was a company called Seener, named after the owner, we tooled up a version for him. He wanted a smaller model around 15/20% smaller to save costs, so we chose 1:76 scale - a lucky scale for Oxford. These carried the brand name SEEROL, named after the owners son ROLand SEEner. We made around 500,000 of these during the 1980's. The tooling eventually fell to pieces and the newly produced Oxford 1:76 variant appeared - it had for once wheel hubs that looked correct. - TT:120 Scale

The orange carries through to the mudguards and tow bar mechanism. The equally brightly painted roof board advertises Monster-size Portions. Along the back of the van, the ever-elusive Monster features in a vivid green, yellow and red as it snakes through the dark blue painted water. On the hatch side, here he is again, this time surrounded by the graphics promoting big burgers, huge sausages, ‘loadsa seafood’ and hot and cold drinks to wash it all down.  That creature certainly seems to have his eyes on something appetising.

They were typically towed by horses or steam tractors, and were equipped with all the necessities of life, including kitchens, bedrooms, and sitting rooms. They offered a sense of freedom and independence. At a time when many people were tied to their homes and jobs, traveling people were able to roam the country freely and make their own living. Austin Mini Metro Emberglow (Princess Diana) Includes: - Diecast model - Driven by Princess Diana  - Body lining - Interior and body detailing - Display stand - OO Scale Vehicle information: British Leyland introduced the Mini Metro in 1980, with a view to it being a possible successor to the popular and highly acclaimed Mini.  Known initially as the Austin Mini Metro, as time went on with vehicle manufacturer mergers and takeovers, it became popularly known as simply the Metro.  Designed by David Bache and Harris Mann, the Metro was assembled at the Longbridge plant and came as a 3-door/5door hatchback with front wheel drive, a four speed gearbox and engine options from 1.0L  to 1.3L.Top speed was 84 mph.for the basic model. With a length of 3,400 mm and a width of 2,250 mm and boasting a spacious interior, it was particularly popular for use in the city too.  The price was pretty attractive as well. You could buy a new Austin Mini Metro  basic 1.0L model for £3,095. The Metro was revealed over a 3-week period in September 1980 but not at the British Motor Show, where it made its official public debut later.  British Leyland chose to sail from Liverpool to The Isle of Man aboard a cruise ship which proved highly newsworthy and attracted huge attention from prospective buyers from the car trade, who took advantage of this unique opportunity to view and buy the acclaimed vehicle. The Austin Mini Metro was popularised to a notable extent by one famous purchaser of the early version.  The 19 year old Lady Diana Spencer bought one at the time when she was attracting a great deal of attention prior to her marriage to the then Prince Charles.  Registered MPB 909W from 1980/81, it is Lady Diana’s Metro that Oxford has chosen to launch this new model. Decorated in the ruby red Emberlow colour scheme, Our Austin Mini Metro is based on the 3-door version.  The exterior features a fine double white stripe along the waist of the car, with a similar black stripe below.  The majority of the exterior trim is black including the distinctive radiator grille. which also has the squared off headlights embedded into it with the Austin blue badge in the centre.  To the rear the Austin mini Metro signage is printed in silver along the lower edge of the boot. The Austin Mini Metro was the best selling mini-car in its early production days and was voted Car of the Year in 1983.   During its 18-year production span, the Metro clocked up over 2 million sales. However, it is a very rare sight today.

Ltd was renamed Western Scottish Motor Traction Co. Ltd. The company was formed as a result of the 1930 Road Traffic Act, which encouraged the consolidation of bus companies into larger groups. Western Scottish quickly became the largest bus operator in south west Scotland, with depots in Kilmarnock, Ayr, Cumnock, Girvan, Stranraer, Dumfries, Annan, Ardrossan, Carlisle, and Whithorn. The company operated a wide range of services, including local bus services, interurban connections, and cross-border journeys into north west England. In 1949, Western Scottish was nationalised and became part of the Scottish Bus Group. In 1985, in preparation for privatisation, the company was split into Clydeside Scottish and Western Scottish. Western Scottish was privatised in 1994 and was purchased by Stagecoach Group. The company was renamed Stagecoach Western Scottish and adopted the corporate Stagecoach white with red, blue and orange stripes livery. Stagecoach Western Scottish continued to expand its operations, purchasing Arran Transport in 1994 and A1 Service in 1995. The company also opened new depots in Brodick on the Isle of Arran and Dunoon in Argyll. In 2006, Stagecoach Western Scottish was merged with Stagecoach Strathtay to form Stagecoach West Scotland. The Alexander M Type was a single-deck coach built by Alexander Bus Builders in Falkirk, Scotland in the early 1970s. It was developed for use by the Scottish Bus Group on its growing Anglo-Scottish motorway express services. The M Type was a popular choice with the Scottish Bus Group and other operators, and over 1,000 were built between 1974 and 1980. It was used on a wide range of services, including express services, long-distance tours and charter work. The M Type was gradually withdrawn from service in the early 1990s, as it was replaced by newer and more modern coaches.

Tricycle Van - Pickfords The second release on this unusual three wheeler van, is Pickfords, the internationally renowned removal and storage company colour scheme of midnight blue and white, which is bound to appeal to collectors of the Pickford fleet past and present. Our Oxford tricycle, registered BWB 39, is as working out of Waingate in Sheffield as a Parcel Express Service delivery vehicle. The Pickfords colour scheme is relieved by white lettering on both sides, silver coachlines and black wheels, wheel arches and mudflaps. The interior is also black, including the steering wheel. Red masking has been used to depict rear lights at the four corners - top and bottom of the back doors, which also incorporate two porthole style windows. Despite the launch of the all-new Cavalier just a year away in 1987, the company upgraded the existing model in 1986 adding revised grilles and rear lamp clusters similar to their larger Senator vehicle, together with further improvement to the equipment levels. A new 2.0 Litre engine option became available on the CD, SRi and GSL trim whilst the availability of the fuel injected 1.8L unit was revised down to L trim.   We have chosen to launch our 1:76 scale version of the four-door Cavalier in the 2.0 CD format, featuring all the 1986 revisions. It appears in the rich champagne platinum colour scheme with lots of black and silver trim, complete with sunroof. Registered D193 XYJ from 1986-7, the interior seating and dashboard are both finished in a darker grey-beige.

With a top speed of 73.8 mph it could accelerate from 0-60 mph in 26.9 seconds. Variants included an estate and a panel van. Several were used as Ice Cream delivery vans and this model is shown in the very popular Walls livery.

Registered F981 ENV from 1998, ours is representative of the last year of manufacture. In real life, the Discovery 1 followed some of the finer features of the Range Rover with the same chassis, suspension and 4 wheel drive system. It was designed, however, at a more affordable price point so it came with smaller engine sizes and initially a three door option. It was also the first Land Rover aimed at the daily driving family market whilst still maintaining the off road facility. In addition, it provided more luggage space and was the only model with a 4 cylinder petrol engine option as well as the diesel alternative. The Discovery 1 came with either a 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual gearbox Another innovative feature was the interior for which Land Rover engaged the help of the Conran Design Group.  The result was a uniform interior colour scheme regardless of exterior paintwork, comprising a signature Sonar Blue to seats and carpet. The car also featured magazine holders above the windscreen, hand-holds for rear passengers built into the front seat head rests, new radio controls on the instrument cluster, two removable sunroof panels and a Land Rover branded cloth fabric holdall in the front centre console for storage. This unique ‘bag’ could be removed and with a detachable shoulder strap could be used as a fashion accessory.  A collector’s item in itself! The remainder of the interior and dashboard features of the Discovery 1 were taken from the existing Rover Group stable, including the instrument panel, digital clock, heater and air conditioning controls. A nod to nostalgia comprised the distinctive Morris Marina door handles. Our 1:76 scale model incorporates all the fine visual features of the original. The interior replicates the authentic Sonar Blue, enhanced with a Sonar Grey dashboard, steering wheel and door panels. Additional interior features include black floor mats, grey interior door handles, gearstick and hand brake. The exterior bodywork is a metallic red colour scheme with black and silver trim. Side body and rear window flashes are finished in grey, silver and a fine blue stripe.  Detailed roof bars, rear mud flaps, wheel centres and bolts are all black. The spare wheel appears fixed off centre on the rear full width door to the right of the  number plate. The Discovery 1 retained the chunky utility vehicle function for which Land Rover was historically renowned, while incorporating many refinements aimed at comfort and economy in an ever competitive automotive world.

AEC 690 Concrete Mixer Blue Includes: - Detailed diecast model - Windscreen and interior detailing - Grill and underframe detail - Blue construction colour scheme - Display stand - OO Scale Vehicle information and history: The AEC 690 cab is based on the original vehicle launched at Earl’s Court in 1959 and was produced until 1969.  Both the cab and the chassis had been previously developed by Thornycroft who AEC acquired in the early 1960s. Over the years, the updated 690 was re-badged, re-bodied and  equipped with different engines, all part of AEC’s new vehicle programme. Like many AEC heavy duty transport vehicles, it was also used extensively by the British military. It was manufactured with an all-steel full-width cab resiliently mounted with easy access steps on both sides. It had a lined interior and flat two-piece reverse sloping windscreen, counter-balanced drop door windows, rear view quarter and central windows and adjustable driver’s seat. Morris Minor Traveller Old English White   The Minor was launched at the Earls Court Motor Show, London, on 20 September 1948. The prototype had been known as the Morris Mosquito, and some later models were called Morris Minor 1000. At launch there were two variants, the standard 2-door saloon, and the tourer (convertible),the 4-door saloon arrived in 1950. The wood-framed estate, the Traveller, plus a panel van and a pick-up truck version were introduced later with the Series II upgrades in 1952. He was born in Bolton, Lancashire, England, on 29 April 1938. He became a steeplejack in 1956, and worked on many of the industrial chimneys in the North West of England. He was also a keen collector of steam engines and other machinery. In 1973, Dibnah was featured in a documentary about steeplejacks for the BBC. The documentary was a success, and Dibnah went on to present a number of other television programmes about his work. He was also a regular contributor to radio and newspaper articles. Dibnah was known for his love of old machinery and his traditional methods of working. He was also a skilled storyteller, and his programmes were full of anecdotes and insights into the world of steeplejacking. Dibnah died on 6 November 2004, after a short battle with cancer. He was 66 years old. He was a popular and respected figure, and his death was mourned by many people. Dibnah's legacy lives on through his television programmes and his books. He is considered to be one of the most important figures in the history of steeplejacking, and his work helped to preserve a traditional craft.

Oxford Diecast Junkers Ju-87 Stuka Stab III/StG 77 (1:72)

Junkers JU-87 Stuka Includes: - Diecast model - Canopy detailing - Printed detail - Prop and engine exhausts - Display stand - 1:72 Scale Aircraft information and history: Although usually associated with the Wehrmachts feared Lightning War attacks at the beginning of WWII, the Ju87B Stuka was also a highly effective maritime strike bomber. Capable of performing precision dive bombing attacks against any Allied vessel, the Stuka took a heavy toll of shipping in the English Channel, North Africa and in the Mediterranean. The Stuka also saw service with the air forces of Italy, Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary, as well as remaining in Luftwaffe service throughout WWII. The attack dive of the Stuka was so severe, that quite a number of automatic features had to be incorporated into the manoeuvre. At an altitude of approximately 15,000 ft., the pilot would locate his target through a bombsight window, which was located in the floor of the cockpit. His engine and propeller had automatic controls, to optimise the aircraft when in a dive, and an automatic trimmer would make the aircraft tail heavy, as the pilot initiated the dive. He would move the dive lever to the rear, which would limit the kick of the control column and quickly begin a defined sequence of actions, which if done correctly, would see his ordnance detonate on his intended target. He quickly set the trim tabs, reduced the throttle and closed the engine coolant flaps. The aircraft would automatically become tail heavy and pitch over in a 180-degree roll, placing the aircraft in a steep nose-down dive at the same time, dive breaks were automatically deployed, to reduce the speed of the dive, to a constant 360 mph. This was the point of no return as the attack sequence had begun. As the strain on the body of the pilot increased, he still had much work to do. The angle of his dive could be checked by looking at a series of red lines on the side of his cockpit window and lining them up against the horizon 60, 75, or 80 degree angle of attack. He would then look forward through the fixed gun sight, to line up his attack, before releasing his heavy main bomb - the optimum release height was indicated to the pilot, by a light flicking on in his altimeter. The bomb was carried on a large U-shaped cradle, which would swing down on release, throwing the bomb safely clear of the large propeller and on to the target. As all this action was taking place, the pilot would have certainly had at least a couple of reassuring glances at the red pins protruding up from the top of the wings, which informed him that the automatic dive recovery system was engaged, should he fall victim to a g-induced black-out. All this would have been taking place in just a matter of a few, frantic seconds! Once the bombs had left the aircraft, it automatically began its dive recovery sequence. This was the point at which the maximum g loading on the crew would be felt and forces in excess of six times the force of gravity were regularly experienced, which could result in vision impairment at the very least. Once recovered and the nose of the aircraft was above the horizon, the dive breaks were automatically retracted, the throttle was opened and the propeller was set to climb the pilot then quickly had to manually open the coolant flaps, to prevent the engine from overheating and then resume flying the aircraft. This was the point that the Stuka was at its most vulnerable, flying at low level, at relatively slow speed and in hostile territory. His rear gunner may still be blacked out and indeed the pilot might still be feeling a little light headed, but every anti-aircraft gun, rifle and enemy fighter in the vicinity would be taking pot-shots at them, from every angle.

Ford Transit Custom White Includes: - Diecast Model - Custom White - Cab interior detail - Accurate body side detailing - Display stand - OO Scale Vehicle information and history: Ford Custom Van in pristine white – a must for all lightweight commercial van enthusiasts, for whom the ubiquitous white van is a necessity.  In real life, the Custom was launched at the 2012 Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham, when it was classed as a mid-size front wheel drive vehicle, a smaller version of the Ford Transit Mk 8. Still in production today, the original 2.2 turbo diesel powered van is now available as a plug in hybrid version powered by a Ford Ecoboost petrol engine and a 13.6kWh electric battery. As with other Ford Transit models, there is a choice of two chassis lengths and two roof heights as well as being easily adapted for cargo and passenger use. There is also the choice of a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox. Since its introduction, the Ford Custom van, with its characteristic wedge-shaped sloping bonnet, has seen one or two upgrades in its recent history. Our model is based on the original and is registered MA16 XLV from 2016.  It simplicity emphasises the detailed tooling elements of the model, which features contrasting black trim to wheels, radiator grille and bumpers and the familiar Ford badge finished in blue and silver.  The interior is moulded in a contrasting dark grey.

Land Rover Series I 88'' Canvas Bronze Green Includes: - Detailed diecast model - Distinctive Defender Series 1 front and grille - Interior detail - Canvas Back - Trim and brackets picked out in silver - Wheel detail - Display stand  - OO Scale Vehicle information and history: Rover chief engineer Maurice Wilks was inspired by his army-surplus Willys-Overland Jeep to create a workhorse vehicle for military and agricultural use - and for export abroad to kick-start both Rover's fortunes and the national economy after World War II. Prototypes were up and running by late 1947, and production of the Series I began at Solihull in summer 1948. It had permanent four-wheel-drive with low-ratio gearing and a locking freewheel mechanism, and a 50bhp, 1.6-litre engine from the Rover P3 saloon. It was fitted with lightweight body panels made from surplus aircraft-grade aluminium - steel was in short supply post-war - and came with army-surplus green paint. The Land Rover price started from just £450. Supply to the British forces started in 1949, the Land Rover replacing the Austin Champ and later, the rust-prone Austin Gipsy. Deliveries to organisations such as the Red Cross soon followed. The 100,000th Land Rover was made in autumn 1954 and by 1958, production ran to around 200,000. In Bronze Green this 88 inch Land Rover was one of the most popular colour schemes. The canvas however would fade over time, so the colours of these would vary considerably. They say no two surviving Land Rover Series I's are the same, each having their own identity.

The abbreviation MW stands for Medium Weight. It had a horizontally mounted engine under the floor between the two axles allowing an entrance door ahead of the front axle and a completely flat floor area, making it easy for one man operation. The chassis was provided either by a coach builder or a bus builder. All MW chassis were fitted with a Gardner 5 cylinder or 6 cylinder engine with chassis type designations either as MW5G or -as our model - MW6G. Originally conceived as an unarmed fast bomber, the Mosquito was a British twin-engined shoulder winged multi-role combat aircraft which took its first flight in November 1940. By 1941 it was the fastest operational aircraft in the world. The effectiveness of the Mosquito saw its use extended as a high altitude night bomber, as modelled here, where you will notice the authentic lack of gun turrets. At the beginning of World War II, 23 Squadron RAF was equipped with Blenheims as a night fighter squadron before they moved to the highly effective DH Mosquito in July 1942. By 1943 the Squadron and its Mosquito aircraft were based in Luqa in Malta from where they were able to attack enemy airfields and railway targets throughout Sicily, Italy and Tunisia. The model is decorated in a matt black body colour scheme with dark red markings. Note 23 Squadron's YP Squadron code which was used between September 1939 and May 1945, printed on each side of the fuselage with the RAF roundel in between. The roundels also appear on the upper wings, together with an interesting rectangular notice on each side of the cockpit canopy indicating No Step! Heaps of history here for aviation enthusiasts concentrating on World War II.
