Hornby Railroad: Class 66 66022 'Lafarge Charnwood' EWS (Sound Fitted)

Railroad: Class 66 66022 'Lafarge Charnwood' EWS (Sound Fitted) Entering service in 1998, this was one of the original 250 locomotives ordered for EWS. Funded by Locomotion Capital Ltd, it was leased to EWS until December 2008.  No. 66022 was one of 60 locomotives sub-let to its Euro Cargo Rail subsidiary in France, starting in June 2006. It was then sold to Angel Trains, who leased it to DB Schenker Rail UK, but the locomotive remained in service in France, returning to the UK for heavy maintenance when required via the Channel Tunnel. Today it is part of the DB Cargo fleet.  Our RailRoad replica model is a faithful representation of the Class 66 locomotive, with added durability and pre-fitted with a DCC sound chip for extra authenticity. - OO Scale

Railroad: Class 66 66601 Freightliner 60th Green (Sound Fitted) First introduced in 1998, the Class 66 revolutionised the rail freight sector in Britain and have become the most prolific type for heavy freight work.  In 2000, a new 66/6 sub-class was created with a lower gear ratio version enabling heavier trains to be hauled, albeit at slower speeds. A total of 25 were put into service by Freightliner, numbered 66601-625 and some of these have since moved overseas for use with Freightliner Poland.  Used mainly on oil, aggregate, and cement trains, 66601 is one of 22 still operating in the UK and, on 18th March 2025, was turned out at Eastleigh Works in a new green ‘Freightliner 60’ livery.  We've faithfully recreated this locomotive in RailRoad model form, keeping plenty of detail but incorporating more durable features, making it ideal for a busy model railway layout. The locomotive was named ‘Louise’ after Louise Garwood at Ipswich on 16 July 2023, as part of GB Railfreight’s annual ladies naming ceremony.  Our RailRoad models combine high detail with added durability, making them ideal for beginners, younger modellers, or those who spend a lot of time on their model railway hobby. Railroad: BR Class 60 60038 'Avesta Polarit' EWS (Sound Fitted) A growth in demand in the heavy haulage sector led to a review of BR’s available motive power in the 1980s. With 185 locomotives of the Type 5, 3,000+ horsepower category available, made up of its Classes 56 and 58, it was clear that more would be needed, and BR put out an invitation to tender for new locomotives in 1987.  The 100 locomotive order was awarded to Brush in Loughborough, and these entered service between 1989 and 1993. No.60038 was named ‘Bidean nam Bian’ after the Scottish ‘Munro’ in Glen Coe.  With BR’s trainload freight business broken up into shadow franchises, the locomotive became part of Loadhaul, based in the north-east. By 1996, this had become part of EWS and 60038 was named 'Avesta Polarit' after the steel making company at the DFDS Immingham sea terminal on 19th March 2002. No.60039 was named ‘Dove Holes’ in April 2015 and was used on limestone traffic out of Derbyshire. Railroad: BR Class 60 60069 'Humphrey Davy' Coal Sector (Sound Fitted)  The Class 60s were the last heavy haulers built for BR. No.60069 was allocated to BR’s Train Load Freight (TLF) Coal Sector and named ‘Humphrey Davy’, in honour of the inventor of the miner’s safety lamp.  Following the break-up of TLF, the Class 60s were divided between three of the shadow franchises: Mainline Freight, Loadhaul, and Transrail Freight, but not long after they were formed they were absorbed into English, Welsh & Scottish (EWS). By 2007, it was estimated that the operational fleet was down to just 60 locomotives, the rest either in store or undergoing repair. That year, EWS was acquired by DB Schenker, a wholly-owned subsidiary of German railway company, Deutche Bahn.  Our RailRoad Class 60 model represents 'Humphrey Davy' in detail, but with added features that make for a much more durable locomotive. Railroad: BR Class 90 90001 'Royal Scot' LSL Intercity (Sound Fitted) As the first member of class (originally to be designated Class 87/2 as the locomotives were seen as an upgraded version of the existing Class 87s), 90001 initially went to the Rail Technical Centre at Derby for testing in October 1987.  It entered service at Willesden depot in October 1987 and, in 1989, was named ‘BBC Midlands Today’. That name was removed in 2004 and, ten years later, it was given the name ‘Crown Point’ while based at Norwich with Abellio Greater Anglia.  In April 2020, it was bought by Locomotive Services Limited, Crewe for main line excursion work. They repainted it in its original InterCity ‘Swallow’ livery and renamed it ‘Royal Scot’. It is one of three Class 90s currently owned by LSL, the others being 90002 and 90026.  This RailRoad model brings the locomotive to life in OO scale form, but with more durable features than found on our main range. Railroad: BR Class 90 90020 'Collingwood' EWS (Sound Fitted) The Class 90 is a type of locomotive designed for mixed traffic work on the 25kV AC overhead network as replacements for aging electrics such as the Classes 81, 82, 83, 84 and 85 that dated back to the 1960s.  Between 1987 and 1990, 50 examples were built at BREL Crewe and put into traffic on the West Coast Main Line during the latter years of British Rail and were equally at home on freight and passenger traffic. Following privatisation of BR, the type served with various operators, such as Abellio Greater Anglia, Virgin Trains West Coast, GNER, and freight operators Freightliner and EWS.  This RailRoad locomotive model of 90020 is depicted during its time as part of the EWS fleet when named ‘Collingwood’. Sporting a striking red and yellow livery, this model is DCC sound fitted, for an extra authentic touch. Hornby Railroad: BR Class 91 91018 'Robert Louis Stevenson' (Sound)

Railroad: BR Class 91 91018 'Robert Louis Stevenson' Intercity (Sound Fitted)  A total of 31 Class 91s were built between 1988 and 1991 for high-speed express passenger train haulage as part of the East Coast electrification programme of the late 1980s. Also known as InterCity 225s in anticipation of their service speed of 225km/h (140mph), they were also referred to as ‘Electras’ by BR during their development phase.  No. 91018 was built at BREL Crewe and entered service in 1990. It received the name ‘Robert Louis Stevenson’ in November 1993, and this was changed to ‘Bradford Film Festival’ in February 2000. It was modified to Class 91/1 in 2002 and renumbered 91118, and remained in service until withdrawn by LNER in May 2020, before going into storage. Railroad: BR Class 37 37501 'Teesside Steelmaster' ROG British Steel Blue (Sound Fitted) Built by English Electric at its Vulcan Foundry in Lancashire, the locomotive this RailRoad model is based on started life in January 1961 as D6705, going new to Stratford depot in London.  After becoming 37005 under TOPS, it was rebuilt as a Class 37/5 in April 1985, which included replacing its EE generator with a new Brush unit, and a complete re-wire, with a consequent renumbering to 37501. It was then painted into its distinctive British Steel pale blue colour scheme, gaining Thornaby Kingfisher motif and British Steel logos. It was then named ‘Teesside Steelmaster’ in 1987.  It was later modified for the proposed Channel Tunnel sleeper ‘Nightstar’ project (which was later aborted) to become a 37/6 in February 1995 and renumbered to 37601. It is currently one of six Class 37s leased by Rail Operations Group from Europhoenix for contracted movement of passenger stock, including EMUs. It was returned to its 1987 guise during a repaint in 2025.  This RailRoad model locomotive is a durable design, perfect for model railway beginners, younger enthusiasts, or anyone who enjoys running their trains daily. Railroad: BR Class 47 47787 'Windsor Castle' EWS (Sound Fitted) Built by Brush, this locomotive started life as D1757 in September 1964 at Cardiff Canton, and under TOPS became 47163 in 1974.  It received various modifications between 1976 and 1979 and was reclassified as a 47/4 and renumbered 47610 in April 1984. It was renumbered again in April 1989, when it became a 47/8 and was given the number 47823, before becoming 47787 as part of the EWS fleet and being named ‘Windsor Castle’. Previously, it had carried the names ‘SS Great Britain' and ‘Victim Support’. Railroad: BR Class 08 08256 BR Blue (Sound Fitted) A total of 996 of the diesel electric shunters were built at various BR works between 1952 and 1962. As the standard BR general-purpose diesel shunter, the type became a common sight at major stations and freight yards across the country.  The locomotive this example is based on started life as 13326 in November 1956, having been completed at Darlington, and was new to New England, Peterborough. It later served at Sheffield Darnall, Tinsley, Finsbury Park, Hitchin, Startford and finally, from May 1968 at Colchester, from where it was withdrawn in February 1984. It was cut-up at Doncaster Works by January the following year.  Our RailRoad range is more durable than our standard range, making it perfect for beginners, children, and the most enthusiastic of model railway runners. Railroad: BR Class 37 37422 'Pegasus' Swietelsky Rail Services (Sound Fitted)  Originally new from Vulcan Foundry in February 1965 as D6966, the locomotive this RailRoad model is based on became 37266 under the TOPS numbering system in 1974.  Its career started at Tinsley, Sheffield and it also had postings at Stratford and Landore under BR. In January 1986 it was reclassified to 37/4 and renumbered 37422. The locomotive has worn several liveries and had several different operators, including EWS, DB Schenker, and DRS. It became part of the Harry Needle Railroad Company spot hire fleet based at Barrow Hill, which was taken over by Swietelsky, an Austrian-based railway construction and maintenance contractor, in January 2025. BR Class 56 56047 Dutch Transrail (TXS Sound Fitted) This Transrail Class 56 OO gauge model locomotive features a striking grey and yellow livery, with sprung metal buffers and NEM tension lock couplings. The highly detailed model is also pre-fitted with HM7000 sound capability for the most authentic experience.  Built at Doncaster Works, 56047 entered service at Toton in July 1978. Transrail Freight was set up as a trainload freight operator based in St Blazey, Cornwall, formed in 1994 from part of BR’s Trainload Freight division during the privatisation of British Rail. During this period, it acquired a number of Class 56 locomotives, retaining the Dutch-style livery but with the addition of Transrail’s logo and markings.  Transrail was one of a number of main line companies to be bought in 1996 to form new freight operator, English Welsh & Scottish (EWS). Railroad: Class 37 37093 Police BR 125 Advert (Sound Fitted) Recognised for its memorable role in a television advert – flagging down a speeding HST power car, this highly detailed model of Class 37 No. 37093 comes presented in its unique ‘Police’ promotional livery. Complete with a roof-mounted working blue light and DCC sound-fitted with Class 37 and effects, functions, and an authentic police siren straight out of the box. History: Built at English Electric’s Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns works, this locomotive entered BR service as D6793 in 1963, allocated to Gateshead. Re-numbered 37093 in February 1974, it was painted into ‘Police’ livery, complete with blue light, for a BR television advertising campaign in July 1985, before returning to a more traditional livery at Stratford in August. It received its unusual name ‘An Commun Gaidhealach’ (The Gaelic Association) at Edinburgh in October 1986, before entering the Provincial General Pool from January 1989.  It was renamed ‘Pectindae’ in April 1992, and then ‘East Lancashire Railway’ in April 1994, eventually being sold to a private owner in 2007 by EWS. RailRoad: Class 08, 08512 EWS (Sound Fitted) This RailRoad Class 08 Shunter is the ideal model for arranging wagons in a goods yard and is suitable for model railway layouts large or small. It comes DCC-ready with a Next 18-pin plug, so you can upgrade it to run on DCC or with our HM7000 Bluetooth-controlled system, which also includes sound via a speaker inside the locomotive. The Class 08 350hp diesel electric shunter was the standard BR general-purpose shunting locomotive with 996 examples built between 1952 and 1962. They could be found shunting large marshalling yards and smaller goods depots. With the decline in the handling of individual goods wagons and the need to assemble trains, by 2000 there were just 100 left in service, with large numbers either scrapped, exported or sold into industrial use.
