Hornby Railroad: BR Class 37 37501 'Teesside Steelmaster'(Sound Fitted)

Railroad: BR Class 37 37501 'Teesside Steelmaster' ROG British Steel Blue (Sound Fitted) Built by English Electric at its Vulcan Foundry in Lancashire, the locomotive this RailRoad model is based on started life in January 1961 as D6705, going new to Stratford depot in London.  After becoming 37005 under TOPS, it was rebuilt as a Class 37/5 in April 1985, which included replacing its EE generator with a new Brush unit, and a complete re-wire, with a consequent renumbering to 37501. It was then painted into its distinctive British Steel pale blue colour scheme, gaining Thornaby Kingfisher motif and British Steel logos. It was then named ‘Teesside Steelmaster’ in 1987.  It was later modified for the proposed Channel Tunnel sleeper ‘Nightstar’ project (which was later aborted) to become a 37/6 in February 1995 and renumbered to 37601. It is currently one of six Class 37s leased by Rail Operations Group from Europhoenix for contracted movement of passenger stock, including EMUs. It was returned to its 1987 guise during a repaint in 2025.  This RailRoad model locomotive is a durable design, perfect for model railway beginners, younger enthusiasts, or anyone who enjoys running their trains daily. Railroad: BR Class 08 08256 BR Blue (Sound Fitted) A total of 996 of the diesel electric shunters were built at various BR works between 1952 and 1962. As the standard BR general-purpose diesel shunter, the type became a common sight at major stations and freight yards across the country.  The locomotive this example is based on started life as 13326 in November 1956, having been completed at Darlington, and was new to New England, Peterborough. It later served at Sheffield Darnall, Tinsley, Finsbury Park, Hitchin, Startford and finally, from May 1968 at Colchester, from where it was withdrawn in February 1984. It was cut-up at Doncaster Works by January the following year.  Our RailRoad range is more durable than our standard range, making it perfect for beginners, children, and the most enthusiastic of model railway runners. Railroad: Class 37 37093 Police BR 125 Advert (Sound Fitted) Recognised for its memorable role in a television advert – flagging down a speeding HST power car, this highly detailed model of Class 37 No. 37093 comes presented in its unique ‘Police’ promotional livery. Complete with a roof-mounted working blue light and DCC sound-fitted with Class 37 and effects, functions, and an authentic police siren straight out of the box. Equipped with NEM tension lock couplings and plastic buffers, this Co-Co diesel is built to perform on second radius curves or greater. History: Built at English Electric’s Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns works, this locomotive entered BR service as D6793 in 1963, allocated to Gateshead. Re-numbered 37093 in February 1974, it was painted into ‘Police’ livery, complete with blue light, for a BR television advertising campaign in July 1985, before returning to a more traditional livery at Stratford in August. It was renumbered 37509 in June 1986 and in 1989 allocated to the Freight Metals sector Thornaby pool. It finished its career with EWS and was cut up at Cardiff Canton in August 2005. - OO Scale

The Class 08 350hp diesel electric shunter was the standard BR general-purpose shunting locomotive with 996 examples built between 1952 and 1962. They could be found shunting large marshalling yards and smaller goods depots. With the decline in the handling of individual goods wagons and the need to assemble trains, by 2000 there were just 100 left in service, with large numbers either scrapped, exported or sold into industrial use. The production ‘Deltics’ were a powerful Type 5 locomotive, designed for high-speed express passenger services on the East Coast Main Line. When introduced in 1961, these were the most powerful diesel locomotives in the world. Powered by two big Napier diesel engines, these locomotives – later known as Class 55s – were capable of speeds of up to 117mph (188km/h) and all were given names in the best tradition of East Coast express locomotives.
