Railroad: BR Class 90 90001 'Royal Scot' LSL Intercity (Sound Fitted)
As the first member of class (originally to be designated Class 87/2 as the locomotives were seen as an upgraded version of the existing Class 87s), 90001 initially went to the Rail Technical Centre at Derby for testing in October 1987.
It entered service at Willesden depot in October 1987 and, in 1989, was named ‘BBC Midlands Today’. That name was removed in 2004 and, ten years later, it was given the name ‘Crown Point’ while based at Norwich with Abellio Greater Anglia.
In April 2020, it was bought by Locomotive Services Limited, Crewe for main line excursion work. They repainted it in its original InterCity ‘Swallow’ livery and renamed it ‘Royal Scot’. It is one of three Class 90s currently owned by LSL, the others being 90002 and 90026.
This RailRoad model brings the locomotive to life in OO scale form, but with more durable features than found on our main range. It is also pre-fitted with a DCC sound chip, for the most authentic model railway experience.

Railroad: BR Class 37 37501 'Teesside Steelmaster' ROG British Steel Blue (Sound Fitted)
Built by English Electric at its Vulcan Foundry in Lancashire, the locomotive this RailRoad model is based on started life in January 1961 as D6705, going new to Stratford depot in London.
After becoming 37005 under TOPS, it was rebuilt as a Class 37/5 in April 1985, which included replacing its EE generator with a new Brush unit, and a complete re-wire, with a consequent renumbering to 37501. It was then painted into its distinctive British Steel pale blue colour scheme, gaining Thornaby Kingfisher motif and British Steel logos. It was then named ‘Teesside Steelmaster’ in 1987.
It was later modified for the proposed Channel Tunnel sleeper ‘Nightstar’ project (which was later aborted) to become a 37/6 in February 1995 and renumbered to 37601. It is currently one of six Class 37s leased by Rail Operations Group from Europhoenix for contracted movement of passenger stock, including EMUs. It was returned to its 1987 guise during a repaint in 2025.
This RailRoad model locomotive is a durable design, perfect for model railway beginners, younger enthusiasts, or anyone who enjoys running their trains daily. Plus, it has been pre-fitted with a DCC sound chip for HM7000 control.

BR Class 43 HST Virgin West Coast 'Lady in Red' Train Pack (Sound Fitted)
This Virgin Class 43 HST "Lady in Red' Train Pack brings the bold red branding of Virgin to your model railway layout, ensuring an eye-catching visual as it charges round the track. This OO model locomotive pack features NEM tension lock couplings and is ready-fited with HM7000 sound control, giving you a digital model railway experience.
Virgin Trains won both the InterCity West Coast and InterCity CrossCountry franchises following privatisation of BR, commencing services under its Virgin branding in 1997. It inherited a variety of locomotives and rolling stock from BR, including InterCity 125 HST sets.
Class 43 power car 43093 had been named ‘York Festival 88’ under BR, but was renamed ‘Lady in Red’ in 1997, which it carried until 2003, while 43097 had been called ‘The Light Infantry’ until 1990, but entered service with Virgin CrossCountry without a name. Painted in the company’s red and black livery, with white markings, both later became part of First Great Western’s HST fleet.

It was renamed ‘Pectindae’ in April 1992, and then ‘East Lancashire Railway’ in April 1994, eventually being sold to a private owner in 2007 by EWS. It is currently on-hire to freight operator Loram Rail and painted in its livery, the ‘An Commun Gaidhealach’ name being reinstated in February 2024.

RailRoad Plus: Class 73 73128 GBRf NSE (Sound Fitted)
This RailRoad Class 73 diesel has been used for both passenger and freight trains over the years, so it is suited to many model railway layouts. It comes fitted with a 21-pin plug, so you can run it on DCC or with our HM7000 Bluetooth-controlled system, which also includes sound via a speaker inside the locomotive.Introduced by BR in 1963, what is now known as the Class 73 is an electro-diesel locomotive, which are also referred to as EDs. As well as operating on the Southern Region’s 650-750v DC third-rail network, these locomotives have a 600hp diesel engine, allowing them to work over non-electrified routes and into sidings and yards where there isn’t a third rail power source. From new, all 49 locomotives were fitted for push-pull working with Southern Region multiple units.
No. 73128 is owned by GBRf and has been painted in the attractive red, white and blue retro livery of former BR sector Network SouthEast and was named ‘Kent & East Sussex Railway’ at Robertsbridge in honour of the heritage line’s 50th anniversary in June 2024.
