Railroad: BR Class 60 60038 'Avesta Polarit' EWS (Sound Fitted) A growth in demand in the heavy haulage sector led to a review of BR’s available motive power in the 1980s. With 185 locomotives of the Type 5, 3,000+ horsepower category available, made up of its Classes 56 and 58, it was clear that more would be needed, and BR put out an invitation to tender for new locomotives in 1987.  The 100 locomotive order was awarded to Brush in Loughborough, and these entered service between 1989 and 1993. No.60038 was named ‘Bidean nam Bian’ after the Scottish ‘Munro’ in Glen Coe.  With BR’s trainload freight business broken up into shadow franchises, the locomotive became part of Loadhaul, based in the north-east. By 1996, this had become part of EWS and 60038 was named 'Avesta Polarit' after the steel making company at the DFDS Immingham sea terminal on 19th March 2002. Railroad: BR Class 60 60039 'Dove Holes' DB Cargo (Sound Fitted)  Entering service at Cardiff Canton in 1991, 60039 was originally named ‘Glastonbury Tor’ as part of the hills and peaks theme of the initial Class 60 naming convention.  It was later one of the locomotives selected for the ‘Super 60’ upgrade programme announced by DBS/DB Cargo in November 2010 that was designed to extend their working life by a further 15 years. No.60039 was named ‘Dove Holes’ in April 2015 and was used on limestone traffic out of Derbyshire. It is still owned by DB Cargo and is one of 52 members of the class put into storage by the company.  We've recreated this impressive locomotive in RailRoad form, bringing the most important details to life and adding features to enhance durability, making this the perfect model for regular layout use. Railroad: BR Class 60 60069 'Humphrey Davy' Coal Sector (Sound Fitted)  The Class 60s were the last heavy haulers built for BR. No.60069 was allocated to BR’s Train Load Freight (TLF) Coal Sector and named ‘Humphrey Davy’, in honour of the inventor of the miner’s safety lamp.  Following the break-up of TLF, the Class 60s were divided between three of the shadow franchises: Mainline Freight, Loadhaul, and Transrail Freight, but not long after they were formed they were absorbed into English, Welsh & Scottish (EWS). By 2007, it was estimated that the operational fleet was down to just 60 locomotives, the rest either in store or undergoing repair. That year, EWS was acquired by DB Schenker, a wholly-owned subsidiary of German railway company, Deutche Bahn.  Our RailRoad Class 60 model represents 'Humphrey Davy' in detail, but with added features that make for a much more durable locomotive. Plus, it is pre-fitted with a DCC sound chip for the most authentic model railway experience. It inherited a variety of locomotives and rolling stock from BR, including InterCity 125 HST sets.  Class 43 power car 43093 had been named ‘York Festival 88’ under BR, but was renamed ‘Lady in Red’ in 1997, which it carried until 2003, while 43097 had been called ‘The Light Infantry’ until 1990, but entered service with Virgin CrossCountry without a name. The first of the 135-strong class arrived at Harwich from Romania in 1976, before commissioning by BR the following year. Only 30 examples were imported, due to relatively poor build quality, and these were subsequently rebuilt.  The remainder of the class were assembled by BREL at Doncaster and Crewe, with Ashford, Eastleigh, and Swindon supplying sub-assemblies, while Ruston-Paxman supplied the power units. BR Class 56 56047 Dutch Transrail (TXS Sound Fitted) This Transrail Class 56 OO gauge model locomotive features a striking grey and yellow livery, with sprung metal buffers and NEM tension lock couplings. The highly detailed model is also pre-fitted with HM7000 sound capability for the most authentic experience.  Built at Doncaster Works, 56047 entered service at Toton in July 1978. Transrail Freight was set up as a trainload freight operator based in St Blazey, Cornwall, formed in 1994 from part of BR’s Trainload Freight division during the privatisation of British Rail. During this period, it acquired a number of Class 56 locomotives, retaining the Dutch-style livery but with the addition of Transrail’s logo and markings.  Transrail was one of a number of main line companies to be bought in 1996 to form new freight operator, English Welsh & Scottish (EWS). Railroad: Class 37 37093 Police BR 125 Advert (Sound Fitted) Recognised for its memorable role in a television advert – flagging down a speeding HST power car, this highly detailed model of Class 37 No. 37093 comes presented in its unique ‘Police’ promotional livery. Complete with a roof-mounted working blue light and DCC sound-fitted with Class 37 and effects, functions, and an authentic police siren straight out of the box. Equipped with NEM tension lock couplings and plastic buffers, this Co-Co diesel is built to perform on second radius curves or greater. History: Built at English Electric’s Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns works, this locomotive entered BR service as D6793 in 1963, allocated to Gateshead. Re-numbered 37093 in February 1974, it was painted into ‘Police’ livery, complete with blue light, for a BR television advertising campaign in July 1985, before returning to a more traditional livery at Stratford in August. It was renumbered 37509 in June 1986 and in 1989 allocated to the Freight Metals sector Thornaby pool. It finished its career with EWS and was cut up at Cardiff Canton in August 2005. - OO Scale

It was rebuilt as a Class 37/4 and renumbered 37419 in 1985 and transferred to Scotland, entering the Provincial General Pool at inverness in 1989.  Reallocated to Thornaby as part of the Railfreight Construction sub-sector the following year, after many moves and sector allocations, it passed via EWS to Direct Rail Services in 2011.
