BR OCA Open Wagon BR Railfreight Red 112038 The OCA wagons were introduced at the start of the 1980s, becoming British Rail’s final standard design for a general purpose open wagon with wide, low sides made up of three hinged sections etc. to allow all manner of cargo to be loaded and unloaded. Introduced at a time when general merchandise traffic was in decline, the type was soon redeployed to other areas like departmental use, or rebuilt as timber carriers becoming OTAs. The Bachmann Branchline model features fine moulding throughout; from the bodysides and the representation of the doors on each side including hinge and securing chain detailing, to the interior and in particular the wagon floor with engraved planks and further moulded details. Railroad: Royal Mail Travelling Post Office 80331 The Traveling Post Office (TPO) has been a fixture on Britain’s railways since mail was first carried on trains in the 1830s.  The sorting of mail in transit gradually reduced in the 21st century as mechanised sorting at depots became commonplace and concerns about the safety of workers carrying out letter-sorting at increased main line speeds. The last TPO using carriages in the UK took place during the night of 9th January 2004. After that, a fleet of Royal Mail-branded Class 325 EMUs continued to carry parcels by rail, but these too ceased in 2024. TPOs could collect and deposit mail on the move by means of lineside apparatus. Several of these vehicles have survived in preservation. Railroad: BR Mk1 NKA 94157 "Super GUV" RES Rail Express Services (RES) was the BR sector responsible for the transport of mail and parcels, including the Travelling Post Office. General Utility Vans (GUVs) were used in large numbers to transport mail and parcels, though some were used as newspaper vans.  These vehicles were part of the BR Mk1 coach family and 907 examples were built between 1956 and 1960 by BR at its York, Doncaster and Glasgow works. A number were also produced under contract by the Pressed Steel Company Ltd at Cowley, near Oxford. With a carrying capacity of 13.8 tons (14 tonnes) these multi-door bogie vans were versatile, some even being converted for carrying motor vehicles. Railroad: BR Mk3 TGS 44086 GWR British Rail introduced the production version of the Mk3 coach in 1975 with improved standards of comfort in response to competition from airlines and increased use of private motor cars. Designed and built by BREL, initially they were intended as locomotive-hauled stock, but with the development of the High Speed Train (HST), were soon adapted for use at speeds of up to 125mph (220km/h). The first version of the Mk3 coach had actually been built in 1972, with ten coaches produced for the prototype HST. Mk3 coaches continued to be built until 1988, but multiple units based on the Mk3 body shell were built until the early 1990s. The standard length of a Mk3 coach is 75ft (23m), which is ten feet longer than its predecessor, the Mk2, and is of monocoque construction with an all-welded mild steel stressed skin. GWR-liveried Mk3 coaches were formed into full-length HST sets and from 2019, in sets of four, to operate as GWR ‘Castle’ sets, which ran as such until May 2024. BR Kitchen and Buttery Car & Composite Restaurant 'At the Sign of the Three Plovers' Coach Pack  This highly detailed OO gauge model coach pack represents one of eight pairs of vehicles introduced by BR in 1949 to provide catering facilities with a difference.  The idea came from Oliver Bulleid, the former Southern Railway’s Chief Mechanical Engineer. Many were built from old coach underframes that had had their bodies scrapped, with the type really coming to the fore in 1966 when British Rail launched its Motorail service, providing British holidaymakers with long distance train services where they could take their car on holiday with them, giving the convenience of independent transport whilst on holiday but without the long drive to get there. The majority of wagons in private ownership were wooden bodied open wagons and by far the most common commodity that they carried was coal, although other materials, including coke, minerals and aggregates might also be transported depending on the nature of business conducted by the wagon’s owner. This model forms part of our new Railway Celebrations range, selected because of its close links to the Stockton & Darlington area and because it symbolises the revolution that the railways provided. Tarslag operated a fleet of hundreds of wagons to carry furnace slag and road asphalt and their operations embodied the freedom of movement afforded by the railway revolution, with concerns in Wolverhampton on the Great Western Railway and Stockton on Tees served by the LNER amongst others, trains including Tarslag wagons would be seen across the UK. The Bachmann Branchline model portrays a 5 Plank Wagon with side doors to aid loading and unloading, and a steel floor. These details are faithfully replicated on the model, with neatly engraved plank lines and finely moulded metal work and rivets. The hopper body is made of unpainted metal and has a black underframe, which was standard across the eras, and it has the yellow framework that BR Railfreight introduced in 1987. The wagon is numbered 358764.  When originally designed in 1964, some hopper wagons intended for Merry-go-Round (MGR) trains were given an extension to their tops, known as a canopy or top skirt, which allowed their carrying capacity to be increased to 32 tonnes, using the full 45 tonnes gross laden weight allowed for a two-axle wagon. This is the perfect complement to the GWR Class 800 train pack that consists of the drive and dummy unit - you can add just this coach or any of the other two coaches available.The Class 800 trains were developed as replacements for the long-serving Class 43 HSTs and were first introduced on the Great Western Main Line in October 2017. This is the perfect complement to the GWR Class 800 train pack that consists of the drive and dummy unit - you can add just this coach or any of the other two coaches available. The Class 800 trains were developed as replacements for the long-serving Class 43 HSTs and were first introduced on the Great Western Main Line in October 2017. Manufactured by Hitachi Rail, 36 five-car sets were built between 2014 and 2018 as part of the UK Government’s ‘Intercity Express Programme’ (IEP) and branded ‘Intercity Express Train’ (IET). The trains are bi-mode, capable of working along the newly electrified sections of the route, while diesel engines allow them to reach destinations that have not yet been electrified. LNER, Gresley Corridor Passenger Brake '4239' This highly detailed Gresley Corridor Full Brake Coach is presented in a varnished teak finish with printed decoration including the LNER branding and its unique number 4239. SR, Luggage Van, 2467 - Era 3 Includes: - Olive Green Livery - Fine detailed handrails - Window detailing - NEM Coupling pockets - OO Scale Vehicle information and history: The Southern Railway Ganward Bogie Luggage Vans were initially introduced in SR Olive Green livery, a very small number gained malachite. Under British Railways they were in crimson, with as few as six painted BR Green. All were withdrawn during 1959 and 1960 with twelve lasting to 1961 for pigeon traffic. A few entered departmental use and two have been preserved. Number S2464S was painted in Pullman car livery in July 1962 and stored in readiness to be used as Sir Winston Churchill's funeral hearse on 30th January 1965. In total 120 of these bogie luggage vans were built between 1930 and 1931 utilising ex LSWR underframes and bogies surplus from the bogie block set coach bodies having been converted to electric stock. This model continues our affection for this particular van by presenting an alternate livery, another choice that may appeal to the collector drawn to a new appearence of this enduringly popular invention.
