BR 35T 'Covhop' Covered Hopper BR Bauxite (TOPS) B870780 British Railways produced many standard designs for locomotives and rolling stock, amongst which was the CovHop introduced from 1952 to become the standard covered hopper wagon to transport powders such as sand, soda ash and sugar. JGA Bogie Hopper DB Schenker Red 'RMC 19232' The JGA Bogie Hoppers were built in Slovakia in the mid-1990s for Buxton Lime Industries and Tilcon, primarily working from Tunstead Quarry, operated by Buxton Lime Industries, near Buxton on the edge of the Peak District. HKA Bogie Hopper DB Schenker '300649' The HKA Bogie Hopper Wagons originated from JMA Coal Hoppers which were ordered by National Power in the mid-1990s. After being acquired by EWS, many of the JMA fleet were fitted with new bogies and the resulting wagons received the TOPS code HKA – with their use subsequently expanded to aggregate traffic too. It is these wagons that form the prototype for this Bachmann Branchline model and the two variants – inner or outer wagons – can be modelled to suit individual needs. In normal operation HKAs run in fixed rakes with only buffers and conventional couplings fitted to the outer ends of the rake. Wagon-to-wagon coupling is by means of a buckeye, negating the need for buffers. The Branchline model can be configured as either; for an outer wagon the rectangular buffers, drawbar hook and screw-link coupling are fitted into the relevant bufferbeam receptacles, with a dummy tail lamp provided too, while for an inner variant the buckeye coupling and buckeye coupling lever is added. BR Mk2F TSO Anglia '6148' The Mk2Fs were the final evolution of the Mk2 family, British Rail’s second generation of standard coach design, and these coaches featured full air conditioning, interior panelling made of plastic, a new style of seating and tinted windows. Initially only three types were built, Tourist Second Opens, First Opens and Brake Second Opens, but some First Opens were later converted into Restaurant First Buffets, whilst several Brake Second Opens were fitted with a driving cab at one end, becoming Driving Brake Second Opens for push-pull use. BR VBA Van EWS '200557'  In the late 1960s British Railways required air braked stock to operate its new Air-Braked Network services – which would later be known as Speedlink -  and the Cov AB (Covered, Air Braked) van provided the answer, becoming BR’s first general purpose air braked van. Introduced from 1969, the Cov ABs had a modern appearance in comparison to the wooden box vans in widespread use at the time and the side of the van was constructed from a pair of doors, providing large openings for loading/unloading. When the Total Operations Processing System (TOPS) was introduced in the 1970s the vans were given the TOPS code VAB, VAA, VBA or VBB. This model forms part of our new Railway Celebrations range, selected because of its close links to the Stockton & Darlington area and because it symbolises the revolution that the railways provided. Tarslag operated a fleet of hundreds of wagons to carry furnace slag and road asphalt and their operations embodied the freedom of movement afforded by the railway revolution, with concerns in Wolverhampton on the Great Western Railway and Stockton on Tees served by the LNER amongst others, trains including Tarslag wagons would be seen across the UK. The Bachmann Branchline model portrays a 5 Plank Wagon with side doors to aid loading and unloading, and a steel floor. LNER, Gresley Corridor Passenger Brake '4239' This highly detailed Gresley Corridor Full Brake Coach is presented in a varnished teak finish with printed decoration including the LNER branding and its unique number 4239. This coach does not have windows as it wasn’t meant for carrying passengers, it contained the guard’s van. The model has detail underneath and metal wheels for finer running. Hornby’s Gresley 61ft 6in coaching stock represents a standard design that Nigel Gresley continued from his days as CME at the Great Northern Railway, through to the LNER at the Grouping in 1923, with very little change to the basic layout of each vehicle.  Finished in varnished teak, these LNER standard vehicles were ahead of their time, with Pullman-type gangways and buckeye couplings, that would later become standard on BR-built coaching stock. The vans, reminiscent of a classic vent van albeit extended served a very similar purpose to their stout predecessors. The VDA was a general use van designed to haul anything and everything.  The VDA vans were used on 'Speedlink' services designed to quickly haul general freight around the country. The wagons were rapidly withdrawn after the 'Speedlink' service was discontinued; 436 vans were in service at the end of 1990 but by August 1994 only 97 were shown on BR books. By 2008, only two VDA vans remained.
