Following on from the Mk3 coach, the Mk4s were built between 1989 and 1992 at Metro-Cammell’s Washwood Heath facility for the newly-electrified InterCity 225 services on the East Coast Main Line.
A total of 282 carriages were built, to maintain a fleet of 30 fixed formations. Each comprised of nine vehicles, operating with a Class 91 locomotive and a Driving Van Trailer on the other end to allow trains to operate in both directions without needing to turn the locomotive.
The Mk4 is an all-steel design which incorporates a number of improvements over the previous Mk3s. Most notably, the inclusion of automatic push-button operated plug-type doors in place of the manually-operated slam doors. The body shells, which were built by BREL and Breda in Milan, also have fully sealed gangways and controlled emission toilets (CETs).
This OO gauge model coach represents a Driving Van Trailer (DVT) in BR InterCity livery.

BR Kitchen and Buttery Car & Composite Restaurant 'At the Sign of the Three Plovers' Coach Pack
This highly detailed OO gauge model coach pack represents one of eight pairs of vehicles introduced by BR in 1949 to provide catering facilities with a difference.
The idea came from Oliver Bulleid, the former Southern Railway’s Chief Mechanical Engineer. This pair operated on the Eastern Region and consisted of a Composite Dining Car and a ‘Tavern Coach’. Internally, each ‘tavern’ was decorated to mimic an olde English pub, with tiled floor, whitewashed walls, ‘oak’ beams, high-backed settles and illuminated by ‘lanterns’.

LNER 'West Riding Limited' Double Open First Pack
Following the success of the LNER’s newly-introduced ‘Coronation’ trains in 1935, a new train was introduced to operate between London King’s Cross and Leeds and Bradford in 1937.
A new set of carriages was built that was identical to the ‘Coronation’ with four twin articulated coaches, though not the streamlined beavertail observation car, named the ‘West Riding Limited’. Carriages were in pairs, sharing a bogie between the two, thus reducing friction and improving ride quality.
The train first ran on 27th September 1937 and achieved an average speed of 63.3mph (101.9km/h) between King’s Cross and Bradford. It was hauled by Gresley's ‘A4’ No. 4492 ‘Dominion of New Zealand’, which had emerged from Doncaster Works only three months earlier.
Services were suspended for the duration of the Second World War, but were reinstated in 1949. A modern version of the train is still operated by the present-day LNER with a 6.30am departure from Bradford Forster Square station.
The next vehicles in the rake are coaches ‘C’ and ‘D’ and these comprise of two identical first class open coaches which offered enhanced comfort and also had a lavatory at each end. Those coaches are the ones presented in this highly detailed OO gauge coach pack.

LNER 'West Riding Limited' Open Third & Brake Third Pack
The final pair are made up of an open third class coach with lavatory, plus another third class brake coach with alternative accommodation for the train’s guard, and those are the highly detailed OO gauge model coaches shown in this pack.

Vehicles ‘E’ and ‘F’ include a Third Class Open Coach and a another coach with third class seating and a second kitchen area. These highly detailed OO gauge LNER coaches are excellent replicas of the 'West Riding Limited' carriages.
