LNER 12T Ventilated Fruit Van BR Bauxite (Early) Britain’s railways were developed primarily to move freight and the early railway companies employed vans of many different designs to transport goods and merchandise that required covered transport. Each railway company had its own designs, some of which were intended for specific traffic like this Fruit Van built by the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER). The fruit vans sported louvres at each end and ventilators on the roof to allow fresh air to circulate within, keeping fruit fresh during its journey. This Branchline models depicts one of those wooden bodied vans and the planked body is replicated with fine engraving, with precision moulding to capture every detail of the sliding doors and their mechanism, topped off with a separately fitted metal door handle. On the roof, the six ventilators are each moulded in full relief before being added individually, the central pair being offset as per the prototype. The chassis employs metal wheelsets of the 3-hole disc variety around which safety loops are added from formed metal wire, whilst the brakes, brake handles and associated gear is all included. 8 Plank Wagon End Door 'Modern Transport Liverpool' Grey 1206 Britain’s Railways were developed primarily to move freight and by the early twentieth century, hundreds of independent companies were operating their own wagons to transport their goods around the UK by rail. Fleet sizes ranged from small concerns with a single wagon to large enterprises whose wagon count could run into the hundreds. The majority of wagons in private ownership were wooden bodied open wagons and by far the most common commodity that they carried was coal, although other materials, including coke, minerals and aggregates might also be transported depending on the nature of business conducted by the wagon’s owner. Various types of 8 Plank Wagon were built, and this Graham Farish model depicts one with fixed ends, unloading would therefore be via the side doors and bottom discharge doors, which on the model are neatly engraved into the wagon’s bodyshell which is moulded with crisp plank lines and ironwork detailing. Below the solebar the W irons, axleboxes and springs are all reproduced to great effect, with separate brakes and brake leavers and metal door stops completing the look. The model runs on spoked wheels which are of metal construction whilst metal buffers adorn the bufferbeams. Authentic colours and typefaces are employed during the livery application prototype, completing this high-fidelity model. Railroad: 12T Tank Wagon Mobil Black No.64 Based on the Railway Clearing House standard tank wagon design of 1907, hundreds of these 12-ton wagons were used by private owners to transport liquid products, including fuel oil and kerosene, among other products.  The tanks sat on a wooden frame and were secured using steel bracing straps. 5 Plank China Clay Wagon GWR Grey '94054' China Clay Wagons were synonymous with Cornwall where the largest deposit of Kaolin, known more commonly as china clay, had first been discovered in 1746 by William Cookworthy. The resulting industry made Cornwall the pre-eminent global source of china clay and as railways were established, they were used to transport the material both locally and further afield, to destinations where the material was required, like the Staffordshire potteries. The GWR, and subsequently BR, built open wagons like the one depicted by this Graham Farish model specifically for china clay traffic. With a 9ft wheelbase and 12T capacity, the wooden planked body sat on top of a metal underframe and our model reflects this, with fine detailing engraved and moulded onto the body. The chassis meanwhile incorporates brake gear and sports tie-bars between the axleboxes, along with metal door bangers and turned metal buffers. 3 Plank Wagon 'London Transport' Grey 'B.W.260' Britain’s railways were developed primarily to move freight and over time, a wide range of wagons were developed to suit the varied cargo that the railway companies had been contracted to transport. Among them were short wheelbase, 3 plank open wagons which had hinged sides allowing them to be lowered, aiding the loading and unloading of cargo. The goods carried by such wagons was varied and could range from loose loads like minerals and aggregate to crates, barrels and even single pieces of machinery or equipment. Basically, anything that could tolerate being exposed to the elements could be carried, although loads could also be sheeted if necessary to offer some protection from weather and general railway dirt. The 3 Plank Wagon depicted by this Graham Farish model is created using an injection moulded wagon body, incorporating hinges along each edge and with securing chains represented at each corner. The wooden deck of the wagon is depicted with crisp engraving to define the separate wooden planks, and this level of detail extends to the wagon’s planked sides, both on the inner and outer faces. Below the solebar the W irons, axleboxes and springs are all reproduced to great effect, complete with separate brakes and brake levers. The model runs on spoked wheels which are of metal construction whilst metal buffers adorn the bufferbeams. Authentic colours and typefaces are employed during the livery application process, completing this high-fidelity model. Coach House & Stables – Laser-cut kit This OO gauge coach house & stables laser cut building kit is ideal for virtually any era model railway layout or 1:76 scale diecast diorama. Ideal for rural and country scenes as a coach house, or it can of course be repurposed as an industrial building or even as a dockside fisherman's cottage with attached boat storage and net loft. It's really up to you how you use it and the options are endless. The coach house & stables features lots of detail such as hinge overlays on the doors, layered, glazed windows, pre-weathered roof slates, painted white stone wall wraps with brick arches. Soot stained chimneys and separately applied drainpipes complete the realistically better finish. There's even the prototypical uneven roofline, just like you see on many older buildings constructed with detailed roof trusses for authenticity. The roof slates are cut to length and pre-weathered with lots of lichen and staining. Simply glue them on to the marked trusses to create a super-realistic roof. The central larger carriage store is separated from the stables & accommodation via internal walls. These sections also feature a floor between the ground floor and the upper floor, allowing you to go to town with interior detailing on these sections. No interior wraps are supplied for these sections. We've also included an optional solid wooden door which you can use in place of the stable door, making it more suitable for use as an industrial workshop with store room and office. Or fisherman's cottage with workshop/boat store and net loft. The kit is straightforward to assemble with paper texture wraps over a series of MDF base layers which leave no unsightly joints visible when construction is complete. As with many of our kits, there are some small, delicate parts in the kit, so tweezers are definitely recommended.  You will need to paint the doors, windows, guttering and downpipes etc as these are supplied unpainted. Artists acrylic paints or "rattle can" spray paints are recommended prior to assembly. Some of the larger unpainted parts can be easily coloured with a simple permanent marker. The roof features heavily weathered cement board/asbestos style corrugated roof with lots of moss, lichen and general weathering, plus a nicely rusted ridge strip. The kit is supplied with laser-cut parts for ease of assembly with no additional painting or weathering required for a "Realistically Better" finish straight from the pack apart from the windows, doors & laserboard parts, which can be quickly and easily painted & weathered with acrylic paints. The garage also features white painted red brick interior wall finishes with flaking paint and other dirt & grime. For a little extra detail we've also included two car tyres and a ladder which can be used to add extra interest to the scene. Doors & window frames require painting before the kit is assembled which can be done with solvent or acrylic based paints. We used a a matt white acrylic primer for our doors and windowframes which we then dry-brushed with burnt umber, buff & slate grey artists acrylics to create a weathered wood look. This model forms part of our new Railway Celebrations range, selected because of its close links to the Stockton & Darlington area and because it symbolises the revolution that the railways provided. Tarslag operated a fleet of hundreds of wagons to carry furnace slag and road asphalt and their operations embodied the freedom of movement afforded by the railway revolution, with concerns in Wolverhampton on the Great Western Railway and Stockton on Tees served by the LNER amongst others, trains including Tarslag wagons would be seen across the UK. The Bachmann Branchline model portrays a 5 Plank Wagon with side doors to aid loading and unloading, and a steel floor. The majority of wagons in private ownership were wooden bodied open wagons and by far the most common commodity that they carried was coal, although other materials, including coke, minerals and aggregates might also be transported depending on the nature of business conducted by the wagon’s owner. Following Nationalisation in 1948, most wagons would be absorbed into British Railways ownership. Various types of 5 Plank Wagon were built, and this Bachmann Branchline model depicts one with side doors to aid loading and unloading, and a wooden floor. These details are faithfully replicated on the model, with neatly engraved plank lines and finely moulded metal work and rivets. LNER, Gresley Corridor Passenger Brake '4239' This highly detailed Gresley Corridor Full Brake Coach is presented in a varnished teak finish with printed decoration including the LNER branding and its unique number 4239. PowerPoint dowels are a dream come true. Highly accurate, they can both transmit track power and perfectly align your baseboards. All of the electrial parts are gold plated too, so they'll never fail you! PowerPoints can confortably handle far more power than a DCC system can deliver, so you will only need to use one pair to reliably transfer power between average baseboards. Work carefully and you will obtain a great result when installing your new Legacy PowerPoint Dowels Clamp the baseboard ends together. Be sure the top surfaces are perfectly level and aligned. (You can temporarily screw an offcut of wood over the top of joint to ensure it is perfect) Mark the position for the dowels. Drill a pilot hole right through both ends using a 3mm drill. (keep it at 90 degrees to the board faces as this step will guide all subsequent drilling) Separate the two boards. Use a 19mm spade drill bit, and go just deep enough into the front face of each board end (2mm) (This is about right to allow the flange of the dowel to sit flush with the baseboard ends) Now, using a 13mm spade drill bit and working from the other side, drill right through the board. You will now have a 13mm hole with a 19mm flange. (Clean it up and remove anu rough edges and sawdust to make it ready for the Dowell installation) Add a little PVA to the grooves in each dowel & insert it flush with the face of the board. (If it’s too tight for a firm push-fit, ream the hole with sandpaper. Do NOT tap them in as you may damage them) To secure boards together after alignment, drill clearance holes for 1/4” bolts & wingnuts. (They do not need to be tight as the dowels will do all the work of aligning the boards perfectly) Connect the track power wires. Your PowerPoints are now installed and ready! By the way...PowerPoints will carry more than 5 amps of track power, so you will not overload them - ever!. Only top quality materials are used. LMS Stanier 50ft Full Brake BR Maroon 'M31248M' Features: Pristine BR Maroon livery Running No. M31248M Accessory Pack NEM Coupling Pockets Close Coupling Mechanism Length 115mm (over couplings) The LMS built coaches to three distinct patterns, known commonly as Period 1, 2 and 3 coaches. The Period 3 coaches were the final development, and the first examples were built in 1933, a year after Sir William Stanier became Chief Mechanical Engineer of the LMS and so the Period 3 coaches are often referred to as ‘Stanier Coaches’. Whilst passenger vehicles were mostly 57ft in length, several specialist types including catering vehicles, Inspection Saloons and Full Brakes were built to a length of 50ft. The vehicles were constructed with wooden frames skinned in steel and with curved windows, providing a modern contrast to earlier types with their wooden bodies and squarer windows. The Full Brakes were used to carry luggage, parcels and other general merchandise and could be found marshalled as part of both passenger and parcel trains, and with their integral guard’s compartment the guard could often be found travelling here too. Many Full Brakes remained in traffic well into the British Railways era and after the demise of steam too, with some examples ending up in departmental or engineer’s use following their withdrawal from revenue earning service. The Graham Farish model captures the look of Stanier’s design to a tee, with a high fidelity bodyshell featuring expertly moulded handrails, door handles, hinges and even door stops, all replicated crisply on the bodysides. At either end, the LMS pattern gangways are added, whilst end steps are fitted alongside and a metal handrail is included adjacent to them and metal buffers are fitted below. Each window is flush glazed and inside, the guard’s compartment is modelled along with the hand brake wheel. Footboards are fitted along the solebar, below which vacuum brake equipment is present along with the battery boxes, dynamo and other auxiliary gear. The bogies are fitted with metal wheelsets, whilst the standard N scale coupling is attached via a NEM coupling pocket to the close coupling mechanism that is fitted to the carriage floor, which operates in tandem with the bogie. Like any Graham Farish model, this high level of detail is brought to life through the livery application, using authentic colours, logos and fonts making every model a masterpiece in miniature. - Era 5 - N Scale

Each wagon would display its tare weight, which could be deducted from the total weight, to ascertain the net weight of the load - simple mathematics! The new Ratio kit is a great representation of a typical Weighbridge, not dissimilar to the one, once located at Shildon Wagon Works in the North East. The first wagon was in service from 1892.  Design for the ‘Loriot’ wagons evolved to include sloping ramps at either end, enabling the machinery to be loaded and unloaded quickly and efficiently. Previous versions featured low, wide wells and no end ramps.  A new wagon in the series, ‘Loriot Y’, was constructed in 1937 to Diagram G39 and its number was No. 41989. An update to the design included ‘I’ beam girders rather than rolled beams and end-axle guard plates. No. 41990 (DW41990 under BR) was the second Loriot Y wagon to be constructed in 1939. The wagon conveyed excavators and other plant machinery over the GWR network. During the Second World War, the two wagons were used constantly to transport bulldozers for when there was wartime bombing. The ‘Loriot Y’ wagon model represents the prototypical wagon under BR ownership. The running number, DW41990, is emblazoned on the side. A wood grain print is used to replicate the wooden planks seen on the prototypical model. The model’s load is a BR Coles Crane, made by CORGI®.

BR HEA Hopper Wagon BR Bauxite '361728' The HEA Hopper Wagons were introduced following the success of the HAA Coal Hoppers which were first used in the mid-1960s to deliver coal to power stations as part of the then-new Merry-Go-Round (MGR) trains. The first wagons were built in the mid-1970s as HBAs, but as construction progressed, the design was changed, and the code HEA was used for later batches. The HBAs were subsequently modified to match the HEAs and recoded, giving a total fleet of almost 2,000 HEAs. The wagons replaced ageing wooden- and steel-bodied wagons, delivering household coal to local terminals and reaching all corners of the UK. The HEAs worked in both mixed freight and block train formations. With the demand for household coal in decline, HEAs were used to transport other minerals, like rock salt, and many were rebuilt or recoded, for example some were used as Nuclear Barrier Wagons (RNAs) with their hoppers removed, or box wagons (MEAs) with new box bodies to carry a variety of bulk loads.
