GCR 9J (J11) 64305 BR Black (Early Emblem) (Sound Fitted) The Great Central Railway was a big mover of goods and amongst the locomotives it built for this purpose were the 9J 0-6-0s. Upon becoming part of the LNER in 1924 the 9Js were reclassified as J11s and this designation stayed remained into British Railways life and until withdrawal. Nicknamed ‘Pom Poms’ because their exhaust noise sounded very similar to the guns of the same name, these freight workhorses are replicated in OO scale by Bachmann Branchline. The J11s carried all the hallmarks of a locomotive designed by the GCR’s Chief Mechanical Engineer John G. Robinson and these features are replicated on the Branchline model using a precision moulded boiler, smokebox and firebox mounted on a diecast metal running plate. The distinctive Robinson cab is another high-fidelity moulding, within which boiler backhead is replicated using an array of separately fitted pipework, controls and dials, all of which are enhanced further with bespoke decoration. The GCR tender has a distinctive look too with its high capacity and flared top edges, and again these trademark features are captured in miniature using high-fidelity mouldings. Coupling to the locomotive via a drawbar that is adjustable to suit individual layout conditions, electrical connections are integrated into it and a hinged fallplate is also fitted to the tender. Across the model separate components are added, from the metal handrails and sprung metal buffers, to the lamp irons at the front and rear, to complete the look of this freight machine. The locomotive’s diecast chassis is enhanced with brake blocks, brake rigging and sandboxes with separate wire sandpipes, whilst between the frames a representation of the inside motion is present. The black colour scheme is replicated with the usual care and attention that you expect from Bachmann Branchline, resulting in a paint finish that is rich and consistent throughout. Details like the running number, plates and plaques are then added using precision printing techniques for full authenticity. The Branchline J11 runs as well as it looks thanks to a power full three pole motor and diecast metal gearbox. The locomotive driving wheels run in separate metal bearings and all six driving wheels are equipped with electrical pickups, tender pickups are included too. Class 150/1 2-Car DMU 150101 Northern (Sound Fitted) The Class 150 Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) is an enduring design, first introduced in 1984 much of the fleet remains in service today with operators including Northern Trains. The distinctive blue and white livery of Northern makes a return to the Branchline Class 150 DMU, this time on a Class 150/1 as classmate 150101. Constructed from a highly detailed bodyshell which is adorned with separate components like the cab front handrails, roof ariels and exhaust, the Branchline model replicates the Class 150/1 faithfully. This announcement is also the first time we have produced Class 150/1’s with an accessible toilet in the DMSL, as signified by the blanked off toilet window on one side. Class 69 69013 Andy's Man Club GBRf Black (Sound Fitted Deluxe) Bachmann Europe Plc has teamed up with GB Railfreight (GBRf) to produce a OO Scale model of Class 69 Diesel Locomotive No. 69013, which will be sold to help raise funds for Andy’s Man Club, the mental health charity that encourages men to talk and aims to prevent male suicide. The real loco debuted in its striking black livery at the end of April 2025, complete with Andy’s Man Club branding and contact details along with the hashtag #itsoktotalk. Bachmann will be donating proceeds from every sale of this model and with it being the 13th member of the Class 69 fleet, we aim to raise £13,000 to help Andy’s Man Club get men talking all over the UK. No. 69013 is the first model to be unveiled for the second batch of Branchline Class 69s which will be released in 2026. The real locomotive is unique amongst the 16-strong fleet of converted Class 56s in having the lower portions of its cab sheeting removed. This modification was made to the donor locomotive No. 56312 and has been carried over to No. 69013 but is not present on the other 15 locomotives. Every Branchline model is manufactured using complex and expensive tooling suites and producing a model with this unique feature is not possible using the current tooling that Bachmann has developed. Therefore, to model this variant would require new tooling, including a new bodyshell, underframe and chassis block. The cost of such additional tooling would be prohibitive for a single locomotive, preventing any meaningful donation to Andy’s Man Club.
