<p>GCR 9J (J11) 64305 BR Black (Early Emblem) (Sound Fitted)
The Great Central Railway was a big mover of goods and amongst the locomotives it built for this purpose were the 9J 0-6-0s. Upon becoming part of the LNER in 1924 the 9Js were reclassified as J11s and this designation stayed remained into British Railways life and until withdrawal. Nicknamed &amp;lsquo;Pom Poms&amp;rsquo; because their exhaust noise sounded very similar to the guns of the same name, these freight workhorses are replicated in OO scale by Bachmann Branchline.
The J11s carried all the hallmarks of a locomotive designed by the GCR&amp;rsquo;s Chief Mechanical Engineer John G. Robinson and these features are replicated on the Branchline model using a precision moulded boiler, smokebox and firebox mounted on a diecast metal running plate. The distinctive Robinson cab is another high-fidelity moulding, within which boiler backhead is replicated using an array of separately fitted pipework, controls and dials, all of which are enhanced further with bespoke decoration.
The GCR tender has a distinctive look too with its high capacity and flared top edges, and again these trademark features are captured in miniature using high-fidelity mouldings. Coupling to the locomotive via a drawbar that is adjustable to suit individual layout conditions, electrical connections are integrated into it and a hinged fallplate is also fitted to the tender. Across the model separate components are added, from the metal handrails and sprung metal buffers, to the lamp irons at the front and rear, to complete the look of this freight machine.
The locomotive&amp;rsquo;s diecast chassis is enhanced with brake blocks, brake rigging and sandboxes with separate wire sandpipes, whilst between the frames a representation of the inside motion is present. The black colour scheme is replicated with the usual care and attention that you expect from Bachmann Branchline, resulting in a paint finish that is rich and consistent throughout. Details like the running number, plates and plaques are then added using precision printing techniques for full authenticity.
The Branchline J11 runs as well as it looks thanks to a power full three pole motor and diecast metal gearbox. The locomotive driving wheels run in separate metal bearings and all six driving wheels are equipped with electrical pickups, tender pickups are included too. The tender houses a 21 Pin decoder socket and pre-fitted speaker, making it easy to upgrade this model to DCC or DCC sound.

A multitude of individual parts are then added, manufactured in both metal and plastic, to capture every element of the prototype. The HTCR radial bogies are reproduced in miniature using multiple components, with many separately added details, resulting in these true to life replicas which interface neatly with the locomotive&amp;rsquo;s frames for an authentic appearance and accurate ride height. The separate axle heads that each rotate smoothly and reliably when the model is moving, mimicking this characteristic feature of the prototype, is the finishing touch.
The colourful liveries of modern operators present some challenges when it comes to decorating our models, but with extensive research, close collaboration with the operators themselves and decades of experience producing beautifully finished models, we are able to replicate every detail. Paintwork is applied with a rich, uniform finish using original specification colours, which is then adorned with logos, typefaces and graphics, all reproduced authentically using multi-stage printing techniques to produce a model with the finest of looks.
Meanwhile, &amp;lsquo;under the bonnet&amp;rsquo; the new Class 66 boasts a high specification that utilises the latest advancements in model railway technology. A full lighting suite includes directional lights, with day and night mode and stabling mode, along with cab lights and machine room lights, all of which can be controlled to full effect when the model is used on DCC. To fit a DCC decoder, it&amp;rsquo;s simply a case of removing the magnetic roof panel and swapping out the blanking plate for a Plux22 decoder. DCC users also benefit from the integrated Bach-Up Stay Alive System which provides uninterrupted power to prevent stalling, light flicker and, for those fitting sound to their model, sound cut-outs. Already using DCC? Then why not opt for one of our SOUND FITTED models instead and start enjoying authentic sounds, a full complement of lights and the Bach-Up Stay Alive System straight out of the box!

The Midland Railway Class 1532, alongside a number of similar 0-4-4T designs, formed the backbone of Midland Railway local and light passenger duties for decades, and now the OO scale model of this ornate prototype returns to the Bachmann Branchline range.
Although the first examples were built in 1881, almost seventy years later British Railways inherited many of these Victorian machines following Nationalisation and set them to work on the branch lines and local services with which they were already very familiar. Reproduced as this marvel in miniature, the Branchline model comes packed with an impressive level of detail wherever you look. A significant proportion of the 1P is made from diecast metal, with fine engraving and detailing, which is complemented by precision moulded components capturing every aspect of the prototype in high fidelity. Sprung buffers are fitted to each bufferbeam, whilst in the cab, the locomotive controls are faithfully captured and decorated authentically.
