Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0 Tank Lined Blue - O Scale Bachmann has partnered with Australian manufacturer Ixion Model Railways to bring their award-winning Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0 Tank Locomotives to the EFE Rail range, becoming the brand’s first O Scale Steam Locomotive. Voted as model of the year by readers of Model Rail Magazine and RMweb, the Hudswell Clarke certainly packs a punch for such a small locomotive, with its high level of detailing, and smooth and powerful performance thanks to its impressive weight – resulting from the high use of diecast components in its construction. Boasting finescale wheels and with a sprung rear wheelset, the Hudswell Clarke will navigate O gauge track with ease, collecting power from each of the six wheels. Between the sprung metal buffers is a sprung drawgear which is fitted with three-link couplings. The powerful five pole motor is fitted with a large flywheel driving the center wheelset via a precision 40:1 gearbox, meanwhile DCC provision comes in the form of a 8 Pin decoder socket and space and connections are provided for those wishing to fit a speaker and sound decoder. The highly detailed bodyshell is adorned with numerous separate components, from the handrails and lamp irons to the whistle and safety valves, and the detailing continues inside the cab which includes controls and dials. The livery application is executed precisely, extending to the cab interior and the underframe too, where components like the wheels and sandboxes are decorated accordingly to give each model a neat, uniform appearance. For that little bit extra, each model is supplied with a set of loco tools, including shovels, picks, rakes and prickers, plus a bucket and oil cans to help you personalize your Hudswell Clarke Tank. Produced especially for the EFE Rail range, this all-new model features a wealth of detail with a varied tooling suite allowing the first two locomotives, CC1 and CC2, to be modelled accurately at various points in their careers. Driven by a 5 pole, skew wound motor with flywheel, each of the six axles are driven whilst all twelve wheels provide electrical pickup. Directional lighting will operate in the forwards direction (the real locomotives were not fitted with tail lights), whilst cab lighting can be operated using a magnetic wand when used on analogue control, or when a 21 Pin DCC decoder is fitted, via two DCC functions. Newton Chambers Car Carrier BR Maroon [W] no.E96297E Using new tooling developed for EFE Rail, this OO scale model depicts the Newton Chambers Car Carriers when first introduced on British Railways’ Eastern Region in 1961. The double-deck bogie vehicles were employed primarily on Anglo Scottish services, transporting up to six cars to provide travellers with their own independent means of transport when their rail journey reached its destination. The EFE Rail model captures the distinct character of these vehicles, with finely-moulded panel lines throughout the model and accurate end detailing. The bogies, with their unique 6ft 9in. wheelbase, are something to behold; capturing the relief of the axleboxes and spring leaf suspension, with full brake gear push/pull rods and safety loops fitted separately between the frames. Pinpoint metal wheels ensure smooth running whilst the tension lock coupling is mounted via NEM socket which is mounted on a close-coupling mechanism built into the vehicle’s floor.
