Recreating these scenes as scale model dioramas has been a cherished activity for years, with this classic Recovery Set offering abundant inspiration for creative modellers. The Bedford Ox was among the most adaptable and dependable vehicles in British military service during World War II. Coupled with the Queen Mary Trailer, named for its considerable size and prestigious cargo, it served as the primary means of transporting dismantled or damaged aircraft between airfields and maintenance sites. The Thornycroft Amazon, with its sturdy crane, was equally vital for lifting tasks, moving engines, and handling significant airframe components during recovery and repair operations. These vehicles were the backbone of RAF ground support, working tirelessly to maintain the operational status of Britain's fighter and bomber squadrons. Whether recovering crashed aircraft from rural areas, transporting newly assembled machines to active squadrons, or moving damaged airframes to Maintenance Units for rebuilding, these recovery teams played a crucial yet often overlooked role in sustaining the RAF's operational capabilities throughout the war and into the post-war era. This classic Airfix set encapsulates the essence of these dynamic airfield scenes, allowing modellers to recreate scenarios such as a dismantled Spitfire or a Vickers Wellington fuselage being transported for repair.

Airfix Land Rover 1 Tonne FC Truck GS Body (1:76)

Land Rover 1 Tonne FC Truck GS Body Built around the legendary attributes of the rugged Land Rover series, the 1 Tonne Forward Control vehicle was designed to meet a British Army requirement for an effective light gun tractor, one which was also capable of transporting 1 tonne of ammunition and other equipment in its load compartment.  These vehicles were also required to be carried by air transport, and repositioning the Rover V8 engine to a position behind the cab removed the bonnet and gave these vehicles their distinctive flat front profile. Airfix British 105mm Light Field Gun (1:76)

British 105mm Light Field Gun A light, yet robust modern field gun, this impressive weapon was flexible enough for troops fighting in the most inhospitable of terrain and could be towed by Army Land Rovers, or carried as an underslung load beneath the larger British helicopter types.  In service with the British Army from 1976, this new weapon was designed to possess greater range and lethality than its predecessor, whilst retaining the portability of that unit, however, this did make it a heavy gun.  Produced in large numbers, these guns were exported widely and served with distinction during the Falklands War. - Plastic Kit Requires Glue & Paint to Complete - 52 Pieces - 2 Scheme Options - Skill Level 1 - 1:76 Scale
