GWR Station Building, based on West Bay (Laser cut)
PECO is happy to present one of its new laser-cut station buildings, along with detailed interior that can be removed and re-inserted, to add lighting and other detail. This is a typical stone-built branch line station building, in this case based in West Bay in Dorset. The prototype was opened in 1984 as the new terminus of the extended Bridport Railway, operated initially by the Great Western Railway and from 1948, British Railways Western region. It closed in 1962, but the building has been renovated and is now in use as a lounge bar and waiting room for a restaurant on adjoining carriages, called the Station Kitchen.
This kit comes with some plastic components to complete the model and includes a full interior detail, which can be removed to add LED lighting should this be required.

- Laser cut wood kit with plastic parts
- Real prototype
- Clapboard wooden body accurately represented
- Gutter and Roof bracket detailing
- Kit requires suitable all purpose glue (for wooden and plastic parts) and paint to complete NOT included
- OO Scale
Building information and history:
This is part of a new range of Laser-cut wood building kits, all based on buildings on the existing West Highland Line extension between Fort William and Mallaig in Scotland. Arisaig station is the inspiration for these attractive range of buildings now produced by Peco. The line is most famous now for its role in the Harry Potter films. The route is a firm favourite with modellers and trainspotters alike.
Arisaig station was built around 1901 to serve the village of Arisaid, located just to the south of the station.
Originally the station had two platforms, the down platform having the main station building on it (LK-203) and on the opposite side a platform shelter building (LK-204).
The signal box (LK-202) which has been closed since 1983 and granted Grade B Listed status is located on the north end of the up platform. There was goods facilities at Arisaig in the form of a loading platform served by a single siding.Today this is used for departmental trains and storage.
The station never had a footbridge and so passengers would have to cross on 'barrow crossings'/ foot crossings at the station platform ends. The station is typical of many on this stretch of the West Highland line and is lucky to have kept lots of its original features blended in with modern lighting and signage. This makes it ideal for modelling in several eras.
