Railroad: Class 3F 'Jinty' Hart and Weaver Limited No.5
The LMS ‘Jinties’ were used widely for shunting and station pilot duties and were so versatile, they were even capable of running at speeds of up to 60mph. When the first diesel shunters started to be introduced, surplus ‘Jinties’ were sold to industrial users and some received bright liveries, such as this fictitious, but highly attractive, blue ‘Hart & Weaver’ livery.
This OO gauge RailRoad model of "Jinty" No.5 is perfect for shunting your industrial sidings.

A total of 271 of Ruston & Hornsby’s ‘88DS’ four-wheel diesels were supplied mainly to industrial sites in the UK and overseas, and were rated at 80/88hp. Built in Lincoln between 1938 and 1967, seven of these were also used by BR’s North Eastern Region on departmental duties.
This model is finished in the distinctive ‘Loadhaul’ livery of black and orange. Formed in 1994 as part of the privatisation of BR, Loadhaul Ltd became part of EWS and subsequently DB Cargo. This OO design also features NEM tension lock couplings.

Ruston & Hornsby 88DS No.245030 Glenochil Yeast Factory
Display the bold logo of Glenochil Yeast Factory on this 88DS model locomotive. This diesel features NEM tension lock couplings and a lovely green livery.
The 80/88hp Ruston & Hornsby 4wDM was a reliable machine and ideal for the modest demands of smaller industrial concerns. Several found use in Scotland shunting rail-connected whisky distillery yards – in this case the yeast factory alongside the distillery of the same name, located just south of Menstrie in Clackmannanshire, where sidings connected with the Cambus-Alva branch line.
Works No. 245030 was built in 1947 and worked the factory yard until 1969, when it was sold to William Kerr Ltd in Stirling. It moved to Babcock & Wilcox Ltd., boiler makers in Renfrew, in 1971, where it remained until about 1978, then presumably scrapped.

SECR H Class 161 SECR Green
This OO gauge SECR H Class locomotive model is a faithful representation of Harry Wainwright's H Class. With sprung metal buffers and NEM tension lock couplings, this model is DCC ready with an 8-pin socket ready for upgrading to digital control.
Designed by Harry Wainwright, 66 of these locomotives were built for the South Eastern & Chatham Railway at its Ashford Works between 1904 and 1915 for London suburban and semi-fast trains. Completed in June 1909, 161 engines carried the elaborate SECR livery, like the locomotive depicted by the model, until receiving a lined olive green livery when taken into SR stock and renumbered 1161 at the Grouping in 1923.
It later became BR 31161 and was withdrawn at Tunbridge Wells West in November 1961 after a creditable 51 years and 5 months’ service

L&MR Robert Stephenson’s 'Rocket'
For the first time, Stephenson's Rocket is presented as a solo locomotive, with a sleek yellow livery, fixed metal buffers and chain couplings. This highly detailed, diminuitive locomotive model is a must-have model for steam collectors, due to its historical importance and incredible model engineering.
This historically important locomotive was built in 1929 to participate in the Rainhill Trials, a competition set-up by the promoters of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway to find suitable motive power for its opening the following year. Built to the order of his father George (who was the L&MR’s principal engineer at the time), ‘Rocket’ was designed by Robert Stephenson and built at his Forth Street Works in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
The design was the most advanced in its day and ‘Rocket’ won the Trials. The locomotive then became one of four that took part in the L&MR’s opening parade in September 1930.

Birth of the Railways Train Pack (Railway 200)
Representing the formative years of steam-powered railways, these three locomotives were built between 1825 and 1838. The first is ‘Locomotion No. 1’, designed by George and Robert Stephenson. It was built at their factory in Newcastle for the opening of the Stockton & Darlington Railway, where it became the first steam locomotive to pull a passenger train on a public railway. In doing so, it became the first steam locomotive to both operate and haul a passenger-carrying train on a public railway in September 1825. 2025 marks the 200th anniversary.
With the experience they gained, Robert Stephenson & Co. entered a design for the 1829 Rainhill Trials, held to find suitable motive power for the Liverpool & Manchester Railway. Their entry, ‘Rocket’, was the clear winner and formed the basis for future steam locomotive design on the L&MR, which opened the following year.
By 1838, locomotive design had already moved on, and 0-4-2 No. 57 ‘Lion’, was one of a pair of ‘luggage’ locomotives built to a Stephenson patent by Todd, Kitson & Laird of Leeds, also for the L&MR.
Please note:
Locomotion No.1 comes fitted with a Next 18-pin socket, but due to the locomotive's size limitations, sadly it cannot take an HM7000 Next 18-pin decoder.
The 'Rocket' locomotive comes fitted with a 6-pin socket.
The 'Lion' locomotive comes fitted with a Next 18 socket (NEM 662).

Locomotive information and history:
Ruston 441934 was built new for Rowntree & Co. Ltd of York, being delivered in April 1960 to join R&H 421419/1958 and 432479/1959 in the confectionery company's fleet of locomotives as No. 3. In 1979, the York factory bought a new 0-6-0 locomotive and No.3 was transferred to Rowntree's Fawdon factory in Newcastle. Rail services at Fawdon came to a halt on 30 January 1987, with No. 3 being handed over to the North York Moors Railway for preservation. After some years being moved about it was purchased in 2013 by two members of the Derwent Valley Light Railway, Glynnis and Tony Frith. 441934 has now been named Ken Cooke, in honour of the former Rowntree's York employee, D-Day veteran and holder of France's highest military honour, the Legion dHonneur.
Ruston & Hornsby Ltd, of Lincoln, was formed as the result of the merger between Ruston, Proctor & Co. Ltd and Richard Hornsby & Sons Ltd on September 11, 1918 and their first narrow gauge diesel locomotive left the works on September 1, 1931.
In the summer of 1932, production was moved to the larger Boultham Works, where the firm were eventually to become Britain's largest builder of diesel locomotives, with over 6,500 being built by the time production ceased in 1969. Almost as soon as the firm's 44/48HP 0-4-0 locomotives were making an appearance, an upgraded, more powerful 0-4-0 was on the drawing board. Although many of the features of the 44/48HP were retained for the new 80/88HP, such as the chain drive and running gear, a new type of transmission was fitted, along with Westinghouse airbrakes. The new power unit, Ruston's own 4VPB, delivered 80BHP at 1000rpm and was later supplanted by Ruston's improved 4VPH that delivered 88BHP, but it required compressed air to be injected into the cylinders to be able to start.
While running, an air reservoir was kept charged via the braking system, but after standing idle for a period the reservoir depleted and a secondary source was required to recharge the reservoir. This was achieved by fitting a small, secondary 1½HP 'donkey' engine, giving rise to a distinctive raised cover on the right hand side of the engine compartment that differed in size and placement depending on the make of engine used. Two basic weight options were offered for the 80/88HP, of 17 tons and 20 tons, the difference being achieved by attaching weights to the outside frames, as well as to the front and rear buffer beams.
In 1941, Ruston's locomotive classifications were changed, with the 80/88HP becoming 88DS (with the narrow gauge versions being assigned the DSM and DSN suffix, and the broader gauges assigned DSW). Outward appearance changes to the 'standard' locomotives were mainly confined to the cab area, with examples from mid-1947 replacing the open cab with a fully enclosed cab that featured several ad-hoc styles of front window. The final 88DS, 518494, left Boultham Works on 29 November 1967, bringing to an end a production run of 271 locomotives.

Locomotive information and history:
Ruston 421415 was built new for the North British Distillery Co. Ltd, being delivered in March 1958 to their distillery in the Gorgie district of Edinburgh, around the period when the distillery was expanding to include the former Edinburgh Corporation Tramways depot. In 1973, the locomotive was donated to the fledgling Fife Railway Preservation Group, who located it at the Lochty Private Railway until its demise in 1994. 421415, now numbered NBD No. 4, has now been restored and wears the livery of the North British Railway.
Ruston & Hornsby Ltd, of Lincoln, was formed as the result of the merger between Ruston, Proctor & Co. Locomotive information and history:
Ruston 432478 was built new for British Railways, being delivered in January 1959 to the North Eastern Region Civil Engineers Department at the Leeman Road Permanent Way Stockyard in York, one of six Ruston & Hornsby 88DS locomotives built for British Railways which were distributed between York, Dinsdale Depot, Etherley Tip, Crofton, Hartlepool and Darlington. As well as working shunting duties at Leeman Road, 432478 also worked at the York Central Concrete Depot, which is now the site of the Railway Museum's main visitor car park.
