Virgin operated several sets of these coaches for use with its HST power cars. Owned by Colas, it is still in service today. Meanwhile, 43102 was turned out in retro InterCity ‘Swallow’ livery in February 2021, recalling its record-setting feat with 43159, when they became the world’s fastest diesel locomotives attaining a speed of 148.5mph in November 1987. LNER A4 4498 'Sir Nigel Gresley' w/ Figure (Limited Edition) (150th Anniversary Collection) The LNER Class A4 Sir Nigel Gresley model locomotive is a limited edition model and part of The Great Railway Engineers Collection. This Collection marks 150 years since Sir Gresley's birth, and this locomotive includes a figure.  With a shiny new blue livery and NEM tension lock couplings, this steam locomotive is a wonderful collector's piece.  Entering service with the LNER as 4498 in Garter blue with streamlined side-skirting and red wheels, this was the 100th Gresley ‘Pacific’ to be built when it emerged from Doncaster Works in October 1937. Allocated to King’s Cross ‘Top Shed’ and used on front-line express services such as the prestigious ‘Coronation’ between London and Edinburgh, ‘SNG’ was built with a single chimney and had stainless steel numbers and letters for the tender added at a general overhaul in January 1939.  After a period in wartime black, when the side-skirts were permanently removed, the locomotive returned to lined Garter blue in March 1947. Painted into BR’s express passenger blue in September 1950, as 60007, it set a post-war steam record speed of 112mph on 23 May 1959. With a shiny bold red livery and NEM tension lock couplings, this steam locomotive is a must-have for collectors. The ‘Princess Coronation’ Class, also known as the ‘Duchess’ Class, was an enlarged and improved version of William Stanier’s successful ‘Princess Royal’ Class ‘Pacific’. The first ten class members emerged from Crewe Works in a streamlined form during 1937 and five of these were put aside specifically for hauling the prestigious ‘Coronation Scot’ between London Euston and Glasgow Central. These were painted in Caledonian blue and had silver horizontal lining, which matched the carriages they pulled. No. 6220 set a new British steam speed record of 114mph in 1937, but this was beaten by the LNER’s ‘Mallard’ in 1938. Built with a single chimney, 6220 was the last of the original 15 to be fitted with a double blast pipe and chimney in 1944. RailRoad: HFA MGR Hopper Canopy Wagon The hopper wagon is decorated in the style of Railfreight’s coal sector. The hopper body is made of unpainted metal and has a black underframe, which was standard across the eras, and it has the yellow framework that BR Railfreight introduced in 1987. The wagon is numbered 358764.  When originally designed in 1964, some hopper wagons intended for Merry-go-Round (MGR) trains were given an extension to their tops, known as a canopy or top skirt, which allowed their carrying capacity to be increased to 32 tonnes, using the full 45 tonnes gross laden weight allowed for a two-axle wagon. There were three basic types ‘HBA’, ‘HCA’ and ‘HFA’. However, those hoppers fitted with canopies were too high to be used under the majority of colliery screens and they were confined mainly to Scotland until the canopies were eventually removed. - OO Scale

As well as operating on the Southern Region’s 650-750v DC third-rail network, these locomotives have a 600hp diesel engine, allowing them to work over non-electrified routes and into sidings and yards where there isn’t a third rail power source. From new, all 49 locomotives were fitted for push-pull working with Southern Region multiple units. Dublo: BR (Early) Princess Coronation Duchess of Buccleuch 46230   Also known as the ‘Duchess’ Class, Stanier’s ‘Princess Coronations’ were among the biggest and most powerful express passenger locomotives in Britain.  Thirty-five were built at Crewe Works between 1937 and 1948, many having streamlined casing. Ten were set aside for hauling the prestigious ‘Coronation Scot’ between London Euston and Glasgow. No. 46230 wasn’t one of those, but it was the first of the third batch of locomotives, which consisted of five non-streamlined versions, and went new to Camden in June 1938 as LMS No. 6230.  At Nationalisation in 1948, the locomotive became BR No. 46230 and was painted in lined Brunswick green as depicted by the model. GBRf, Class 67, Bo-Bo, 67027 The Class 67s were constructed by Alstom Meinfesa in Valencia between 1999 and 2000 for EWS. No. 67027 ‘Charlotte’ was named ‘Rising Star’ in 2003. Various changes took place over the years. In 2007, the ownership of the locomotive was transferred to DB Cargo UK. In 2014, the locomotive adopted the DB Cargo UK red livery, changing from the previous EWS red & yellow livery.  Ownership was again transferred to Colas Rail in 2017. To reflect this, the livery was amended to Colas Rail yellow, orange and black at the Toton TMD. The locomotive name changed to ‘Charlotte’ in the same year. In 2022, ownership was transferred to GB Railfreight and repainted in a blue and yellow livery, although this didn't last long as GBRF Rejected the 2 Class 67s and they were returned back to Colas. Major modifications were required for the Class 43 power cars to make them compatible with the Mk3 coaches. These included changing the train supply from three-phase to 1,000V conventional ETS, fitting jumper connections, changing the central door locking system and more modifications to the couplings and electrical systems. Grand Central launched their new London King’s Cross to Sunderland passenger service on 18 December 2007. No. 43465 was outshopped from Crewe Works in October 1977 as 43065 in an InterCity Blue and Grey livery. The locomotive entered traffic straight after at Heaton. Not long after, it was repainted into an InterCity Swallow livery. In the late 1980s, 43065 was one of eight power cars fitted with buffers and TDM multiple working equipment to make sure it could work with brand new Class 91 electric locomotives using Mk3 rolling stock. Grand Central acquired 43065 and refurbished the locomotive at Brush Traction in 2010.  It faced a renumbering change to 43465 and acquired a new Grand Central black and orange striped livery. In 2017, the Grand Central Class 43 locomotives were purchased by East Midlands Trains with the last Grand Central HST service commencing on New Year’s Eve. By 2018, 43465 was painted in an East Midlands Trains blue livery with red and orange stripes. This livery was updated for the ex-Grand Central HSTs by featuring a deeper blue gradient. 43365 is currently in service as a Rail Adventure power car and was part of Rail Adventure’s first dive onto British rails, with the company previously only being based out of Germany. No. 43484 was outshopped from Crewe Works on 25 February 1978 in a BR InterCity blue and yellow livery and was also part of unit 254015. The locomotive entered service in April of the same year. BR Intercity, Mk3 Tourist First, 41099 In-order to allow running at 125 mph on Britain's Victorian era railways, new rolling stock was needed by British Railways. Significant improvements over the Mk2 included new secondary air suspension between the bogies and the coach body as well as aerodynamic skirting on the underframe. Mk3 coaches are 75ft (23m) long, enabling far greater capacity than older coaches. Mk3 coaches also incorporate disk brakes and wheel slip protection enabling faster deceleration. The first Mk3 coaches to be delivered were used as part of the HST prototype along with the two Class 41 diesel power cars in 1972. Mk3 coaches entered service in 1975 along with the Class 43 forming the iconic InterCity 125 trainset. After the HST Mk3 coach variant was introduced, further Mk3 coaches were introduced to the West Coast Mainline for use as part of locomotive hauled trains. Whilst Mk3 stock is standard for HST units, the standard locomotive hauled stock is Mk3a. Mk3a stock differs from Mk3 stock due to the inclusion of buffers as well as a different electrical system that uses motor generator units in each coach to power air conditioning and other ancillaries Mk3a stock was built until 1984, before 3B stock with improved seating and lighting was built from 1985 to 1988. The Mark 3 coaches were introduced into service with the Class 43s as the Intercity 125 service. This top flight service was dressed in a variation of BR Blue with a grey window surround. The Class 43s would be painted in a complimentary colour scheme with yellow noses for safety reasons. The Mark 3 coaches would continue in service in this scheme until the late 1990s. In preservation, some of these coaches have had this distinctive livery reapplied. - Era 8 - TT:120 scale

The Class 43s would be painted in a complimentary colour scheme with yellow noses for safety reasons. The Mark 3 coaches would continue in service in this scheme until the late 1990s. No serious attempt to update the units to the new Southern brand took place with only 4-VEP unit 3514 ever being painted into Southern green livery. The introduction of the Class 377 Electrostar units gradually saw the old and high millage 4-VEPs replaced. The final regular Southern 4-VEP service took place in August 2005, while Southern 4-VEP operations came to a final end with the Sussex Slammer rail tour occurring in November.

BR, W1 Class 'Hush Hush' Streamlined, 4-6-4, 60700 Includes: - British Railways branding in Gill Sans Font - Garter Blue livery - Accessory bag (drain cocks, pipes) - 2x extra trailing wheels for the Cartazzi truck (if your layout has sufficient curvature) - Accurate cab detail - Double Kylchap double blast-pipe arrangement - Streamlined Non corridor tender type - 21 Pin DCC Decoder Socket - Era 5 - OO scale Locomotive information and history: Having completed nearly 90,000 miles of test running since new, Sir Nigel Gresley's W1 4-6-4 No. 10000 entered Darlington Works on 21 August 1935 for what was anticipated to be a major overhaul and modification. During this period Gresley decided that it was time to rebuild 10000 as a three cylinder locomotive with a conventional firetube boiler. Subsequently, 10000 was moved to the Doncaster Works on 13 October 1936 and this is where the first drawing for the modification were being prepared. When 10000 was finally released from Doncaster Works in November 1937, it was a significantly different locomotive, being fitted with a diagram 111 boiler that was very similar to the diagram 108 boiler fitted to No. 2006 'Wolf of Badenoch', and with a streamlined casing to the same pattern as the A4 class. As many components as possible from the original W1 were used in the rebuild, including the frames, which were shortened by 1 ½ feet at the front end. Other items, where needed, were sourced from the A4 class, the A3 class or, like the front bogie, from the B17 and an experimental double Kylchap blastpipe and chimney was fitted. The locomotive was turned out in Garter Blue as per some of the A4's (in 1937 this became a standard livery). The cab, while similar to that of the A4 class, 60700 was considerably longer and this led to the locomotive's tender's coal delivery chute having to be lengthened to compensate for the extra distance from the firebox doors. The original tender was retained, but with superficial modifications, such as to the curvature of the front plates and the addition of streamlined plating to the front and rear, although this was partially removed just a year later in 1938. Up to the outbreak of war in 1939 and during the war years, 10000 worked mainly on Kings Cross main line duties and with its power and smooth riding it was a popular engine with the LNER's drivers, though less so with the firemen due to the distance between the shovelling plate and the firehole door. The locomotive also became more 'fitter' friendly after April 1942 when the skirting was removed from ahead and behind the outside cylinders to improve access in wartime conditions. At this time the 10000 was painted in wartime Black livery and with only 'N E' on the tender sides. By 1946 and now repainted in Garter blue livery, the corridor tender was swapped for the streamlined non-corridor tender from 4462 (BR 60004) William Whitelaw and the locomotive was engaged in more varied duties, working occasional passenger services to Leeds and Cambridge from Kings Cross alongside the occasional 'lodging' turns to Newcastle. By 1948 under the new British Railways, the locomotive received the number 60700 and "British Railways" insignia on the tender in Gills Sans font. Following allocation to Doncaster on 25 October 1953, 60700 became a more frequent visitor to Leeds and also worked turns to Sheffield, as well as hauling Doncaster to Peterborough passenger services and various braked goods trains. In a similar circumstance to 10000 never receiving its proposed name of 'British Enterprise' in November 1929, 60700 never received its intended name of 'Pegasus', for which the nameplates were cast on 13 April 1951. At this time the locomotive lost its Garter Blue livery for the new "Express Passenger Blue" with white and black lining. After an interesting and slightly troubled life, the locomotive was scrapped at its Darlington birthplace in 1959. Interesting to note is that as 60700 was going into works for scrapping, the original marine boiler the locomotive was fitted with, had been perched on bricks as steam raising boiler outside the works and outlasted the locomotive by a few years.

(Will not operate on analogue) Locomotive information and history: With the nationalisation of Britain’s railways, the ‘Princess Royal’ Class Turbomotive later shed its LMS insignia, to be replaced with the new emblem of British Rail and a black livery shortly after receiving its new crest. After a long period of general repair, Turbomotive returned to the main line in 1947 under the number 46202, continuing its function as a distinct and entirely uniquely designed steam turbine locomotive. In 1949, the locomotive suffered a turbine failure and as result of post-war budgeting of the time, it was best decided to take the locomotive from service and awaiting rebuilding into a convetional design.  Following rebuilding and completion in 1952, 46202 rolled out of Crewe works loooking very different. The rebuilding included the fitting of various Princess Coronation (Duchess) class parts and became a half way between the eariler Princess Royal class and preceding Princess Coronation class. Now in BR green livery and named "Princess Anne", the locomotive wuld only see two months of service before being involved in one of the worst railway disasters ever, at Harrow and Wealdstone. It was scrapped shortly after deemed beyond the point of saving. It is because of 46202 been scrapped, that BR designed and built 8P class "Duke of Gloucester" as a replacement.

Under British Railways they were in crimson, with as few as six painted BR Green. All were withdrawn during 1959 and 1960 with twelve lasting to 1961 for pigeon traffic. A few entered departmental use and two have been preserved. Number S2464S was painted in Pullman car livery in July 1962 and stored in readiness to be used as Sir Winston Churchill's funeral hearse on 30th January 1965. In total 120 of these bogie luggage vans were built between 1930 and 1931 utilising ex LSWR underframes and bogies surplus from the bogie block set coach bodies having been converted to electric stock. This model continues our affection for this particular van by presenting an alternate livery, another choice that may appeal to the collector drawn to a new appearence of this enduringly popular invention.
