LMS 10001 BR Lined Green (Late Crest) (Sound Fitted) The LMS ‘Twins’ – Nos. 10000 and 10001 – were the very first mainline diesel locomotives built in the UK and this Bachmann Branchline model pays homage to the youngest of the pair, 10001. Built by the LMS and so becoming part of the Midland Region’s fleet under BR, after five years in traffic the ‘Twins’ were sent to the Southern Region (SR) between 1953 and 1955 for trails alongside the SR’s own prototype diesels. To work on the SR, additional headcode lights and brackets were fitted to suit the Southern 6 position headcode system and these remained a feature of both locomotives thereafter, as displayed on this model of No. 10001 which is depicted in BR Green livery and with the late crests that were applied by BR from 1956. By this time the pair had returned to the Midland Region and were employed on duties across the region. The Bachmann Branchline model of No. 10001 is a highly detailed replica of the prototype, adorned with numerous separately fitted components to accurately capture the appearance of this pioneering machine. The livery application captures the splendour of this elegant locomotive, whilst engine room detailing has been replicated through the bodyside windows for the first time. Class 101 2-Car 'Power Twin' DMU BR Green (Speed Whiskers) (Sound Fitted) The Class 101 Diesel Multiple Units were the most numerous of all the first generation DMUs and had a long service life, remaining in use for almost half a century, and we’re delighted to present N Scale models of this iconic unit as part of the Graham Farish range. This two-car unit depicts a ‘Power Twin’ comprising two vehicles equipped with an engine and the associated transmission and whilst all of these details are replicated faithfully on the Graham Farish model, just one of the vehicles is motorised. Each of the two cars is constructed from precision moulded bodyshells with flush glazing and a high level of raised and engraved detailing, from the ventilators and rivets found on the roof to the door furniture and window frames along each bodyside. Each chassis is adorned with all the underframe components you’d see on the prototype, including the engine, transmission, battery boxes and auxiliary gear. Both vehicles are brought to life with an exquisite livery application, using accurate colours, fonts and logos, and the detail and decoration extends to the interior too, where seating is fitted and painted accordingly, and the cab provides crew seats along with a representation of the control desk. The bogies are moulded with a high level of relief detail and separate footsteps are added where appropriate, meanwhile metal wheelsets are employed and electrical pickups from every wheel provide power for the directional lights at each cab end. Class 69 69013 Andy's Man Club GBRf Black (Sound Fitted Deluxe) Bachmann Europe Plc has teamed up with GB Railfreight (GBRf) to produce a OO Scale model of Class 69 Diesel Locomotive No. 69013, which will be sold to help raise funds for Andy’s Man Club, the mental health charity that encourages men to talk and aims to prevent male suicide. Bachmann will be donating proceeds from every sale of this model and with it being the 13th member of the Class 69 fleet, we aim to raise £13,000 to help Andy’s Man Club get men talking all over the UK. No. 69013 is the first model to be unveiled for the second batch of Branchline Class 69s which will be released in 2026. The real locomotive is unique amongst the 16-strong fleet of converted Class 56s in having the lower portions of its cab sheeting removed. This modification was made to the donor locomotive No. 56312 and has been carried over to No. 69013 but is not present on the other 15 locomotives. Every Branchline model is manufactured using complex and expensive tooling suites and producing a model with this unique feature is not possible using the current tooling that Bachmann has developed. No. 47712 ‘Lady Diana Spencer’ was one of the first twelve locomotives converted to a 47/7, having entered works as Class 47/4 No. 47505, and is modelled in the striking BR ScotRail livery with bold grey, white and blue bodyside bands and large yellow ends and cab rooves. Class 69 69005 'Eastleigh' GBRf BR Green (SF Deluxe) The real Class 69 Diesel Locomotives have been created for GBRf through the conversion of redundant Class 56s and we are delighted to present this Bachmann Branchline OO scale model of Britain’s newest mainline diesel. Produced under an exclusive agreement with GBRf, the Branchline model has been painstakingly developed hand-in-hand with the introduction of the GBRf fleet. With the Class 69s being built from donor locomotives that were first built by three different works and have themselves seen almost fifty years of use and modification, Bachmann has worked closely with GBRf to accommodate any detail differences that were present on the donors and have remained apparent on the rebuilt machines, along with any changes made to the final design of the Class 69 during the ongoing build programme. This diligent approach has resulted in a truly magnificent model which befits the Branchline name, capturing the Class 56 shape to a tee alongside the modern adornments and many changes made to the locomotives to create the 69s. The bodyshell features crisp, accurate mouldings to depict the main features along with separately fitted parts, including etched bodyside and roof fan grilles, metal windscreen wipers and separately fitted driver’s door handrails. Inside the cab there is interior detailing which will be decorated appropriately whilst machine room detailing is visible through the bodyside grilles. The underframe equipment is all present and correct, composed of many separate parts along with sandboxes and sandpipes and sprung metal buffers, but it is the bogies that really bring this model to life. The Class 158 is one of British Rail’s most successful second generation Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs); first introduced in 1989, all but one of the original units remain in traffic to this day. Class 90/0 90042 Freightliner 'PowerHaul' Includes: - Sound Fitted - Pristine Freightliner ‘Powerhaul’ livery - Running No. 90042 - Rectangular Freight Buffers - Screw link Couplings - TDM Cables fitted to the Buffer Sides - Large Battery Charger - Battery Boxes and Switch with Hinged Access Panels which are Ribbed - Coreless, twin shaft motor with two flywheels providing drive to both bogies - All axle drive - Electrical pickup from all wheels - Separate metal bearings fitted to each axle - Accessory Bag - N scale Locomotive information and history: Fifty Class 90 locomotives were ordered by British Rail in 1986 to replace the ageing Class 85 fleet on West Coast Main Line duties, whilst also allowing BR to cascade a number of Class 86s to East Anglia. Constructed at British Rail Engineering Limited, Crewe, the new locomotives were initially classified as 87/2s however this was soon changed to Class 90 as the design featured a completely new body-shell – although much of the technology within was shared with the Class 87s. Construction of the 110mph rated locomotives was completed in 1990 and the fleet was split between different sectors of British Rail – 15 were allocated to InterCity services, five for Rail Express Systems (mail and parcels traffic) and the remaining 30 for Railfreight Distribution. Most of those allocated to Railfreight Distribution would later be downgraded to 75mph and reclassified as 90/1s numbered in the 901xx series following work to isolate the Electric Train Heating and push-pull equipment making them dedicated freight locos. Upon privatisation the Class 90 fleet was split between Virgin Trains, EWS and Freightliner. By 1999 all of the Class 90/1s acquired by EWS had been converted back to 90/0s due to an increased requirement for passenger locomotives to work contracted ScotRail sleeper trains and for hire to GNER for East Coast Main Line services. Further renumbering by EWS occurred when nine locos were fitted with different brake blocks and these became Class 90/2s numbered in the 902xx series. The Freightliner locos were also converted back to their original specification in the early 2000s. The Class 90s have carried numerous liveries including three decorated in European liveries for the Freightconnection event in 1992 which coincided with the opening of the Channel Tunnel to freight services. No. 90128 was decorated in SNCB turquoise (Belgium), No. 90129 in DB red (Germany) and No. 90130 in SNCF orange and grey (France) and each carried the name Freightconnection in their respective languages, alongside No. 90022 which was named ‘Freightconnection’ and carried Railfreight Distribution livery. The majority of the Class have carried names whilst in service and the 90s have appeared a variety of other post-Privatisation liveries such as GNER, DB Schenker, First ScotRail, One (Anglia), Greater Anglia, National Express, DRS and Malcolm Logistics. Today, Class 90s remain in operation with Freightliner, DB Cargo UK (ex-EWS/DB Schenker) and most recently Locomotive Services which has acquired Nos. 90001 and 90002 and repainted them into InterCity Swallow livery for use on charters and excursions.
