The LNER Gresley A4 is one of the most iconic express locomotives in Great Britain, with its streamlined casing a classic symbol of the attitude towards speed and design in the 1930s, which saw increased competition to the railways from road and air travel. The LNER Board knew that they had to make travel between the major cities faster, comfortable and more reliable. Nigel Gresley, the LNER's Chief Mechanical Officer, travelled on the Fliegende Hamburger diesel locomotive in Germany and was impressed by its streamlining, although he realized it was only efficient at high speeds. Gresley was certain that a modified A3 Pacific, with streamlining, could haul greater loads than other locomotives at the same speed or faster and a series of trials were conducted to confirm the A3's suitability. With the trials successfully completed, the LNER Board gave Gresley the go-ahead to create the "Silver Jubilee" streamlined trains, the first of the new streamlined A4s.The streamlining of the A4s' steam circuit, higher boiler pressure and extension of the firebox to create a combustion chamber made them more efficient than the A3 as they consumed less coal and water- especially later on when they were also fitted with a Kylchap double chimney. This improved their free steaming capabilities further. Their streamlined design not only made them capable of high speeds, but created an up draught of smoke, obscuring the driver's vision, a major problem on the new Class A4 engines. The story goes that during wind tunnel testing, after several unsuccessful efforts to get the smoke to lift clear, a thumbprint was inadvertently left on the clay model just behind the chimney. This succeeded in clearing the smoke and was incorporated into the final design. 2511 Silver King was the 3rd A4 locomotive to be built, designed to pull the Silver Jubilee service. The locomotive entered service in November 1935 in the unique LNER Silver livery designed for the service. Hornby LNER Class A3 60078 'Night Hawk' BR (Early) Green (TT)

While the A1 was a fantastic locomotive that served its purpose as intended, it became clear reasonably quickly that some modifications could be made that would greatly improve its performance. These modifications however were too significant to avoid reclassifying the locomotives and as such the A1 Felstead 2743 was the first to be withdrawn from service only a handful of years after it was introduced, emerging from its shed in August 1928 as the first A3 ‘Super Pacific.’ The newly designated A3 locomotives had an improved boiler, larger cylinders and a conversion from right to left hand drive. 27 of the class were built as A3 locomotives from the get go, with all of the in service A1 examples being converted before 1950, the last such example to undergo this transformation was the then BR numbered 60068 Sir Visto. Night Hawk first entered LNER service on the fairly pleasing 24th October 1924 as locomotive number 2577 as an A1 locomotive. Rebuilt in January 1944 to an A3, the locomotive would go in to be numbered 78, and then 60078 under BR. The Class 56 fleet was introduced between 1976 and 1984, a total of 135 examples were manufactured. Class 56 '56302' Fastline Freight The British Rail Class 56 is a type of Co-Co locomotive designed for heavy freight work and was introduced between 1976 and 1983. In all 135 Class 56s were built, the first 30 by Electroputere in Romania but due to poor quality of construction the remainder were built by BREL at their Doncaster and Crewe works. The Class 56 was considered to be a successful locomotive and had a long service life. However performance and maintenance costs savings made from the deployment of the newly imported Class 66 resulted in most of the fleet of Class 56s being decommissioned or sold on by 2006. The class was affectionately known as ‘Cromptons’ after the brand of electrical equipment installed and shared many features with its lesser powered sisters, the Class 26 and 27. LSWR Adams T3 560 SR Lined Maunsell Green The first LSWR T3 Class locomotive was built in 1892 and 125 years later, the T3 was thrown into the spotlight when the National Railway Museum donated the sole preserved example, No. 563, to the Swanage Railway Trust. Ever since this controversial move there has been a desire to see a OO scale model of this Victorian masterpiece, and now, we are delighted to fulfil those wishes with this brand-new model developed for Bachmann’s EFE Rail range. Employing a large number of diecast metal components to provide the optimal weight distribution needed for this 4-4-0 locomotive to perform at its best, the EFE Rail T3 is powered by a five pole motor and flywheel which is geared to the rear driving axle. DCC provision comes in the form of a Next18 decoder socket mounted in the tender, where a speaker is also fitted, meanwhile within the cab of the model a firebox lighting system has been installed which operates on both analogue and DCC. An innovative loco-to-tender coupling design provides both integral electrical connections and a close coupling feature, whilst at either end of the model NEM coupling pockets are fitted and sprung metal buffers are mounted on each bufferbeam. Class 47/8 47849 BR InterCity (Swallow)  The Class 47 was British Railways’ most prolific class of main-line diesel locomotive and so it’s no surprise that high fidelity models of these ever-popular machines are available in N Scale as part of the flagship Graham Farish range. Such was their success that Class 47s went through various upgrade and refurbishment programmes during their careers, to extend their lives or ready them for new services, resulting in various sub-classes being used to group locomotives that had undergone the same work, or were built with similar features, such as the Class 47/4s which were those locomotives fitted with Electric Train Heating (ETH). Whilst not an official sub-class, some Class 47/4s were fitted with extended range fuel tanks allowing them to work longer distances and such machines were identified by being renumbered into the 478xx series. With their larger fuel tanks, these Class 47s were put to work on cross country routes and following Privatisation, the 47/8s were used by Virgin Cross Country. No. 47849 received its extended range fuel tanks in 1990 and was renumbered from 47570, remaining in InterCity livery long into Privatisation before it was repainted into Virgin colours in 2000 and so making this locomotive suitable for both Era 8 and Era 9 operations. Class 47/4 47555 'The Commonwealth Spirit' BR RF Distribution European The Class 47 was British Railways’ most prolific class of main-line diesel locomotive and so it’s no surprise that high fidelity models of these ever-popular machines are available in N Scale as part of the flagship Graham Farish range. Such was their success that Class 47s served on the front line of BR services for many decades and even in the 1990s, some 30+ years after their introduction, they were still being used for top link services, like hauling the Royal Train or in this case, as part of the fleet used for freight services via the then brand new Channel Tunnel linking the UK and the mainland Europe. The Railfreight Distribution European livery, as distinguished by the large lettering on the bodyside and blue roof, was introduced in the mid-1990s and was applied to distinguish those locomotives allocated to traffic flows serving Dollands Moor and the Channel Tunnel Freight Services, which used the Channel Tunnel from its opening in 1994. Class 47/7 47712 'Lady Diana Spencer' BR ScotRail The Class 47 was British Railways’ most prolific class of main-line diesel locomotive and so it’s no surprise that high fidelity models of these ever-popular machines are available in N Scale as part of the flagship Graham Farish range. Hornby Birth of the Railways Train Pack (Railway 200)

Birth of the Railways Train Pack (Railway 200) Representing the formative years of steam-powered railways, these three locomotives were built between 1825 and 1838. The first is ‘Locomotion No. 1’, designed by George and Robert Stephenson. It was built at their factory in Newcastle for the opening of the Stockton & Darlington Railway, where it became the first steam locomotive to pull a passenger train on a public railway. In doing so, it became the first steam locomotive to both operate and haul a passenger-carrying train on a public railway in September 1825. 2025 marks the 200th anniversary. With the experience they gained, Robert Stephenson & Co. entered a design for the 1829 Rainhill Trials, held to find suitable motive power for the Liverpool & Manchester Railway. Their entry, ‘Rocket’, was the clear winner and formed the basis for future steam locomotive design on the L&MR, which opened the following year. By 1838, locomotive design had already moved on, and 0-4-2 No. 57 ‘Lion’, was one of a pair of ‘luggage’ locomotives built to a Stephenson patent by Todd, Kitson & Laird of Leeds, also for the L&MR. Please note: Locomotion No.1 comes fitted with a Next 18-pin socket, but due to the locomotive's size limitations, sadly it cannot take an HM7000 Next 18-pin decoder. GWR Saint Class - Lady of Legend 2999 As none of the original ‘Saint’ Class survived into preservation, the last being withdrawn in 1953, the Great Western Society purchased GWR ‘Hall’ Class No. 4942 Maindy Hall from Barry scrapyard in 1974 with the intention of rebuilding it as a ‘Saint’. The ‘Hall’ was a direct development of the ‘Saint’, No. 2925 Saint Martin being used as its prototype in 1924 by Charles B. Collett, Churchward’s successor as Chief Mechanical Engineer at the GWR. Hunslet Austerity VF5300 NCB North East 59 This Austerity was another wartime product, this time from the Vulcan foundry, Newton-le-Willows. It was completed in 1945 and allocated the WD number 75310. Following war dept service, the locomotive was purchased by the NCB and allocated to number 6 area, North West Durham. Particular to this area is the cut back cabs on all locomotives for working the restricted clearance of the tunnel on the entrance to Lambton coal drops at the port of Sunderland. Another smaller feature on this locomotive was the relocation of the injectors to above the running plate ahead of the cab. Hunslet Austerity HC1775 BR Black Early Emblem 68025 This locomotive was one of a batch of 36 Austerities by Hudswell Clarke of Leeds. This particular one was completed in November 1944 and carried the WD number 71498. Purchased by the LNER in June 1946 the locomotive was classified as a J94 and numbered 8025. The distinctive extended bunker was fitted in November 1949 when it was renumbered 68025 and gained the early BR emblem. The locomotive was based at Darlington 51A until withdrawal in 1963. The locomotive did not survive and was cut up shortly after. Inter-City 125 High Speed Train Set This train set includes: Class 43 HST power car numbered E43063 Class 43 HST dummy car numbered E43062 two Mk3 TS coaches numbered E42064 and E42065 a transformer a train controller a buffer stop a full curve a power straight a standard straight a 3rd full curve a left-hand point a re-railer. No.E43062 No. E43062 was built by British Rail Engineering Limited at Crewe in September 1977 and was outshopped in a BR blue and grey livery. The locomotive was first allocated to the Bounds Green (BN) depot and 43062 was initially part of the 254004 set. It was repainted in an InterCity Swallow livery after a few years in service. As British Railways prepared to be privatised, it sold its HSTs to Virgin in 1997, including 43062. The Class 43 locomotive was repainted in a Virgin red and black livery for use on CrossCountry services. Virgin handed over ten HST power cars in 2002. 43062 was given to Network Rail for use as part of the New Measurement Train (NMT). The locomotive was outshopped in a bright Network Rail yellow livery and because of this, the train was often referred to as the ‘Flying Banana’. The NMT travels at 125mph to monitor and record any faults on the track. 43062 was named ‘John Armitt’ after the chairman of the UK’s National Infrastructure Commission and had a red nameplate fitted. Loram UK won a Network Rail £8-million five-year contract to maintain the NMT in 2020. 43062 was recently overhauled at Loram Derby and returned to traffic in January 2024 with No. 43257 at the rear. No. E43063 No. E43063 was built by British Rail Engineering Limited at Crewe in September 1977 and outshopped in a BR blue and grey livery. The locomotive was first allocated to the Bounds Green (BN) depot and 43063 was initially part of the 254004 set. On 18th May 1991, 43063 could be seen at the Laira depot in a repainted InterCity Swallow livery and continued in service with this livery until 1997. Nameplates were fitted at Edinburgh station on 6th January 1997. 43063 ran in service with this name until the nameplates were removed in October 1999. In 2002, Virgin handed over 43063 to FGW who repainted it in a FGW blue and purple livery. Between 2006 and 2007, the locomotive faced an overhaul at Brush Traction and was fitted with an MTU 16V4000 R41 engine. FGW was renamed Great Western Railway in September 2015 and 43063 continued in service under the new name. Six GWR Class 43 HST power cars were stored at the Laira depot in 2020 and 43063 was among them, becoming a spares donor. - TT:120 Scale

They were inspired by the LMS’ and Southern’s pioneer diesel designs and were outwardly similar to English Electric’s Type 4 (subsequently Class 40). Although fitted with a Sulzer 12LDA28 diesel engine capable of 2,300hp, the new BR Type 4s were heavy. Their 133 ton weight required a 1Co-Co1 wheel arrangement. The first, D1, emerged from Derby in 1959 and was named Scafell Pike. The remaining nine locomotives were also named after English and Welsh peaks and the class soon gained the nickname ‘Peak’, which was also applied to the subsequent Class 45s and Class 46s. Although a mixed traffic design, they were initially used on West Coast Main Line passenger services before being transferred en masse to the Midland Main Line. The subsequent arrival of the Sulver Type 4s (later Class 45) meant that the BR Type 4s (which would become Class 44 on TOPS) were allocated predominantly to freight work radiating out from Toton. Consequently, they could be seen as far afield as York or Severn Tunnel Junction. Any small class of locomotive was always under threat and the ‘44s’ were no exceptions. 44003 was withdrawn in July 1976 and all had gone by the end of 1980. Happily, two survive: D8 Penyghent is based at Peak Rail and D4 Great Gable is owned by the Peak Locomotive Company and is based at the Midland Railway-Butterley. - N Scale

Baguley-Drewry 70hp Diesel ICI Orange & Grey The diminutive Baguley-Drewry marks Bachmann’s first foray into the world of narrow gauge diesels for the Bachmann Narrow Gauge OO9 scale range. These 70 horsepower machines were originally built for use at Royal Naval Armament Depots (RNAD) which employed narrow gauge networks to move armaments between storage locations and transhipment sites. The perfect complement to the Bachmann Narrow Gauge RNAD Wagons, these diesel locomotives pack a lot into a small space with a high proportion of diecast parts to provide the 4-wheel locomotives with a running performance befitting the prototype. Several details are fitted separately, including the air filter mounted on top of the bonnet, headlights (non-functional) at the front and rear of the cab, windscreen wipers and, inside the cab, chairs and controls are modelled too. The coreless motor, which is fitted with a flywheel, provides drive to both axles – each of which run in separate metal bearings. Electrical pick-up comes from all wheels whilst the couplings are mounted into NEM coupling pockets – these can be removed and the bufferbeams swapped out for fully detailed alternatives that do not feature the cut-outs required for the OO9 coupling. All of this detail is brought to live by the livery application which uses authentic colours, logos and typefaces to portray a locomotive in use with industrial giant ICI. G. Ivatt for the London, Midland & Scottish Railway (LMS), 128 of these Class 2 Moguls were built for light freight and passenger duties. With construction commencing in 1946, just twenty examples were built by the LMS and the remaining 108 were outshopped by British Railways following Nationalisation in 1948. The construction programme was completed in 1952 and these Mixed Traffic locomotives would go on to operate on all the BR regions, with the exception of the Southern. Light axle loadings allowed the Ivatt 2MTs to be used on most routes including branch lines, where their almost enclosed cabs made them ideal for working tender first when no turning facilities existed. The design provided the basis for the BR Standard Class 2MT 2-6-0, and the two are very similar in appearance, with the Standard version having only a modified cab and tender profile to allow unrestricted route availability across the British network. With BR progressively closing more and more branch lines, and rationalising others – often employing new diesel multiple units to provide a more economical passenger service – duties for small locomotives like the Ivatt 2MTs began to disappear and the decline of the class began in 1961 when the first example was withdrawn. The Mogul’s versatility and its relatively modern design however ensured that many examples were still in traffic until the mid-1960s, but by 1967 all had been withdrawn. Thankfully, seven Ivatt 2MT have been preserved and the type is an ideal source of motive power for many of the trains running on heritage railways today.

BR Standard 5MT with BR1 Tender 73006 BR Lined Black (Late Crest) The Graham Farish model brings all the power and presence of the prototype to N scale and this masterpiece in miniature certainly packs a punch when it comes to the detail, with separate metal handrails found throughout the locomotive and tender, brass chimney and safety valves and separate pipework running from below the cab to the injectors on the boiler. Inside the cab, the moulded back head detail has been decorated to pick out the individual gauges and controls, whilst below the running plate, the Walschaerts valve gear is something to behold, especially when the locomotive is in motion. A powerful coreless motor provides drive to the centre driving wheels and each driving wheel is fitted with separate metal bearings whilst a pair of traction tyres are fitted to the rear driving wheels to aid traction. Electrical pick-up comes via all six driving wheels and all six tender wheels, with a semi-permanent loco-tender coupling system to ensure the two stay firmly coupled at all times. Class 90/0 90042 Freightliner 'PowerHaul' Includes: - Pristine Freightliner ‘Powerhaul’ livery - Running No. 90042 - Equipped with a Next18 DCC Decoder Socket – Recommend Decoder item No. 36-567A - Rectangular Freight Buffers - Screw link Couplings - TDM Cables fitted to the Buffer Sides - Large Battery Charger - Battery Boxes and Switch with Hinged Access Panels which are Ribbed - Coreless, twin shaft motor with two flywheels providing drive to both bogies - All axle drive - Electrical pickup from all wheels - Separate metal bearings fitted to each axle - Accessory Bag - N scale Locomotive information and history: Fifty Class 90 locomotives were ordered by British Rail in 1986 to replace the ageing Class 85 fleet on West Coast Main Line duties, whilst also allowing BR to cascade a number of Class 86s to East Anglia. Constructed at British Rail Engineering Limited, Crewe, the new locomotives were initially classified as 87/2s however this was soon changed to Class 90 as the design featured a completely new body-shell – although much of the technology within was shared with the Class 87s.   Construction of the 110mph rated locomotives was completed in 1990 and the fleet was split between different sectors of British Rail – 15 were allocated to InterCity services, five for Rail Express Systems (mail and parcels traffic) and the remaining 30 for Railfreight Distribution. Most of those allocated to Railfreight Distribution would later be downgraded to 75mph and reclassified as 90/1s numbered in the 901xx series following work to isolate the Electric Train Heating and push-pull equipment making them dedicated freight locos. Upon privatisation the Class 90 fleet was split between Virgin Trains, EWS and Freightliner. By 1999 all of the Class 90/1s acquired by EWS had been converted back to 90/0s due to an increased requirement for passenger locomotives to work contracted ScotRail sleeper trains and for hire to GNER for East Coast Main Line services. Further renumbering by EWS occurred when nine locos were fitted with different brake blocks and these became Class 90/2s numbered in the 902xx series. The Freightliner locos were also converted back to their original specification in the early 2000s. The Class 90s have carried numerous liveries including three decorated in European liveries for the Freightconnection event in 1992 which coincided with the opening of the Channel Tunnel to freight services. No. 90128 was decorated in SNCB turquoise (Belgium), No. 90129 in DB red (Germany) and No. 90130 in SNCF orange and grey (France) and each carried the name Freightconnection in their respective languages, alongside No. 90022 which was named ‘Freightconnection’ and carried Railfreight Distribution livery.   The majority of the Class have carried names whilst in service and the 90s have appeared a variety of other post-Privatisation liveries such as GNER, DB Schenker, First ScotRail, One (Anglia), Greater Anglia, National Express, DRS and Malcolm Logistics. Today, Class 90s remain in operation with Freightliner, DB Cargo UK (ex-EWS/DB Schenker) and most recently Locomotive Services which has acquired Nos. 90001 and 90002 and repainted them into InterCity Swallow livery for use on charters and excursions.
