Flying Scotsman was the third of Sir Nigel Gresley's famous class A1 (later) A3 Pacifics. The class of 78 were named mostly after famous Derby Racehorse winners. Flying Scotsman was usually a "Top Shed" engine of London Kings Cross depot. Flying Scotsman worked the many famous expresses between London and Edingburgh throughout its working career, such as the "The Flying Scotsman", "The White Rose", "The Talisman" just to name a few. The locomotive is now part of the National Collection and works mainline railtours.
