Hornby Dublo: BR, Princess Coronation Class, 4-6-2, 46250 'City of Lichfield'- Era 5
Locomotive History:
A 'Coronation' Class created in the latter half of the Class's life, No. 46250 was named after the Staffordshire city rather than a Princess, a Queen, or commemorative event. Indeed, all later 'Coronation' Class locomotives from 6235 to 6257 were named in this manner aside from the penultimate 'Sir William A. Stanier, F.R.S.'. Passing from the LMS to BR, 'City of Lichfield' was given 'Standard Blue' livery with a black and white lining in May 1950.
Product info:
Later with the advent of injection moulding, the tenders were produced in plastic. After Meccano Ltd was acquired by the Lines Bros, in 1964 the name Hornby Dublo became model railway history, that was until 2020 when Hornby reintroduced the brand with the release of the metal bodied 'Duchess of Atholl'. The new models carry on the great tradition of Hornby Dublo with the locomotive bodies being produced in diecast.
