LNER A1 Class 2564 'Knight of Thistle' In Doncaster Green Livery
Named after the Racehorse which won the 1897 Royal Hunt Cup.
Class A1 Knight of Thistle was one of a batch of twenty A1 Pacific's built at the North British Locomotive works, Glasgow in 1924.
Eventually the locomotive was renumber in 1946 Thompson renumbering scheme to 65. In 1947 Knight of Thistle was rebuilt as an A3 class pacific. After passing into nationalisation, the locomotive received the final number 60065.
